Thoughts on babymooning at 28 weeks?
If you don't need a beach, I'd be comfortable going to Canada or western Europe where healthcare is on par with the US.
DH got injured in Aruba years ago and went to the hospital. He's pretty laid back and even he said the hospital was a nightmare. Keep in mind that just because an island is tied to an American or European government doesn't mean the healthcare will be comparable to America or Europe.

We are going to St. Thomas USVI next week, when I'll be 28 weeks. My OB was not concerned with me flying, since it's a short flight and I didn't have any complications wtih my first.
We chose St. Thomas bc we wanted to do something in the carribean and after research, felt comfortable travelling to this island. We're staying at the Ritz Carlton.

Yes! We are now adding PR and US Virgin Islands to our search since it may not be that warm in AZ or CA when we go. I'm sorry you had to cancel but it's good you did have insurance. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
Be careful with trip insurance... All the ones I checked out excluded pregnancy complications!
Really? We had no issues - we just had to fill out certain paperwork and get the doctor to provide certain information. I guess when we took the insurance we knew it was because of possible pregnancy and/or complications so we made sure that was included.

I keep thinking of that couple from NJ that delivered their 24 weeks twins in Portugal and are stuck there...also that couple that recently delivered on the cruise ship and docked in PR. I just don't think it's worth the risk to travel outside the U.S. Think of all the things we do and don't do all along to hope for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Why take the risk to deliver outside the U.S. with subpar medical care and possible financial complications? IMO best to stay in the US.

Yep. I've had bad luck with insurance. I now just get trips that you can cancel & rebook flights for changing fees. Maybe I'm not looking into insurances hard enough. Which one do you use?

Okay thanks all! I didn't even think of that regarding health care.
I will try to find a hotel we can use with points in the states. We go to the Miami area often (will be there later this month for Thanksgiving) so are trying to avoid going right back there a month later, but maybe we can go somewhere else---maybe somewhere in CA?
And I'm pretty set on using Starwoods points so a lot of the options suggested above are out---I will see what I can find with Starwoods outside of Florida!
Look into the Sheraton Wildhorse Pass in AZ. It is a beautiful Starwood property. I just came from a meeting with the Starwood Sales Team and they have so many amazing properties here in the US.
