Fetal weight sono

On my paperwork of test schedules, they have the sono to estimate fetal weight as 28 weeks. I checked my appt which is next Monday but I will actually be 29 weeks. Is a one week difference concern?

Not at all and to be honest those are so inaccurate I wish they would stop using them and worrying people.

I have my growth sono next week and I'll be 31 weeks. The doctor can do it whenever he wants and some don't do it at all.

Ok. I wonder why it says 28 weeks in my papers, but I just worry about the cord, position, etc... Then I don't think I go back til week 34-36.

I'm going to have one at 36 weeks but only because I asked about having a c-section and my OB wants to see how big the baby is. Had I not asked about anything I wouldn't be having one at all.

I got them constantly with Hailey, they said she was small... and she was... Even smaller than what they predicted she was at my last sonogram before she was born.

It doesnt mean anything is wrong tho.

I agree. I had them biweekly after 28w or around then and then weekly after 36w. Even then they were still wrong.

Yep. Measuring small, measuring small.
Which led to a ton of NSTs and dopplers, etc- and a LOT of stress on me. Right up to the end- oh she's so small.

Only to give birth to a 7 lb baby. Which is very average

I'm 36 weeks Thursday ....I went for a sono 2 weeks ago and was told he's very petite (4 pounds 2 ounces) but when 2 different drs felt him they said "no way this baby is small- he's a lot bigger than that" ...so they sent me for another sono this morning and said he's now 4 pounds 12 ounces. So I have to get another sono in 2 weeks to make sure he isn't decreasing in size. When he said that I felt my heart sink.

These sonos are so far off, I don't even know why they continue to use them.
It just worries you sick -and usually over nothing!

An acquaintance of mine is a midwife and when I saw her the other day I mentioned the growth sono and she laughed and warned me that third trimester sonos "can't tell a damn thing."

Ok. I understand now but can't remember a thing from my first pregnancy schedule. Lol My DH even said to me I was making a big deal out of nothing. Why do they even do them? I agree these sonos c an be nerve wracking.

With both dd's my doctors wouldn't even take a guess as to how big they were b/c she said they are always wrong. Lol. I just get the reg sono's to make sure everything is there and fine. That's it. I don't understand why they do them as I have never heard of an accurate one lol

This. Both of my kids measured ahead and I was told they were going to be at least a pound more than they actually were at birth. I wouldn't worry.
