Sharp pain above my right butt and around my lower back. It is not constant, and standing up after sitting in certain positions is nearly impossible, and or even lying down on my back on the couch. Sometimes while I walk, I have to stop because the pain comes out of nowhere. Chat Icon

I would love to know the same. I get it terrible too. Especially after lifting anything on the heavy side.

I've had similar pain--- I'm calling it sciatica --- after sitting and then standing up its terrible --- DH has had to help me on numerous occasions. Sometimes it takes a second until I can move my legs when I get up due to the pain --- and lifting my let to put on pants--FUHGEDDABOUTIT! I actually found that while I was home over thanksgiving it felt a bit better because I was doing more movement ,which seemed counterintuitive, but I guess not because I otherwise sit at a desk all day and my dr. indicated that that type of position or sitting with my legs straight out can make things worse.

Knowing the pain you are feeling, all I can say is SORRY! It sucks :(

My Dr confirmed that mine was sciatica. It was a horrid pain down my butt cheek and upper leg. It wasn't constant, but when it hit, I would either start limping or be completely unable to stand. Luckily in my case, it didn't last very long. But I've heard that acupuncture or massages can help. Also there's a belly band that I considered purchasing if it got much worse (a good friend of mine had it BAD and this helped her a ton).

Could be, doesn't have to be.

That's how I get it, too. It goes right down my butt cheek.

Same here. Starts in my cheek and goes down my leg. It actually causes me to limp. Nothing really helps.

Sounds like it. I had it during the second trimester. Last about a month. Was from the baby laying on my sciatic nerve. It was very, very uncomfortable to sit.

Re: Is this sciatica?

So happy someone posted this! I am currently 25 weeks and this has been happening on and off for the past 2-3 weeks. At first, I thought it was my shoes, or sitting on hard chairs for prolonged periods of time.

But I have the same things....lower back pain, with pain radiating down my right buttock....so bad sometimes that I am limping.

Has anyone tried a massage to help? I know its a nerve issue, but I wanted to know if a massage would give any relief.

I have it to but mines mostly tailbone pain and that's all I'm calling it since Google calls it that too during pregnancy.

Make sure you do lots of stretching! Look into pregnancy yoga stretches.

Yes! I had sciatica issues pre-pregnancy and my PT advised me to stay active and do certain exercises, including those at prenatal yoga. I'm only 22 weeks but I haven't had that pain yet during the pregnancy.
