3V and work in the city??
I commute from port Jeff to Lawrence at least once a week so not quite city but definitely north to very far south I commute outside the traffic hours by choice luckily my job is flexible. If you want to know driving wise it's about 1.5 hours. No advice with trains though just not an option in my case

What part of 3V? I am very close to Nicholas and did it for 16 years. I drove to Ronkonkoma and took the train. It was not the best because I worked downtown so it was at least 2 hours each way. I just planned nothing during the work week because I could not rely on the time I would get home. If you live north of 25A, then you adding another 20 minutes on your commute each way.

3V and work in the city??
Commuted from Patchogue (Ronkonkoma line) to midtown everyday for a few months. Over 2 hours door to door each way. It basically sucked the life out of me so I moved to NYC. That said, there were people on th at train that have been doing it 30 years strong. Just wasn't for me.
