I will never understand this.
What on earth makes people feel that they have the right to comment on what people decide to name their children? Talk about it behind my back fine, but to my face?!? Ridiculous.
We didn't tell anyone our name choices because people can suck.

Only a select few knew what we were going to name my DD. I had mentioned I liked the name to my brother's girlfriend (now fiancee) and she said something bad about the name. From then on I didn't tell anyone else what we chose as her name, just said we were still deciding. Everyone has an opinion so I agree just keep it to yourself so you don't have to hear them...
BTW we still named her the name we liked anyway despite some negative reactions!

I had a student named Desmond. He was THE cutest kid ever. His nickname was Dezi. Adorable!

Tell them to scratch. And honestly, if it were me anytime they would ask about baby and decisions you are making I would tell them due to the name drama other details are being kept private.

With DD my MIL was actually texting me alternative names to think about. I wanted to kill her. She even had input on how she thought I should spell the name we picked.
So this time around every time she asks I tell her we're not telling her. She will obviously find out bc we aren't keeping it a secret from anyone else, but I doubt she will share her opinions since she knows how rude we think she was last time.

I like your names! They aren't common and they are cute!
The only person that we told our name to is DH's mother and that's only because she told us her favorite name and it happened to be the name we picked (we were just so caught off guard so blurted out that she was lucky that she was getting a grandson by that name!). Otherwise, people won't know til he's here.
