Please. Trump can't even handle Megyn Kelly being "mean" to him and you would trust this guy with the nukes? Hell to the no.
Ding ding ding..i
That is not why he declined. He declined because of the way she treated him in the first debate. He said if she moderated the next debate he wouldn't attend. Fox News decided to keep her, so he stood by what he said and declined.
He is not scared of her. She was an asshole to him. Once again, Trump will not take anyones Bull shit. He is not PC, nor does he have to be. To run a country the proper way, you cannot worry about everyones feelings. Run the country. A CEO of a company does not worry about employees feelings, they do what they have to keep the company running. Sure employees count, but not when everything and anything offends them.
We need a strong leader, a strong leader that will not cave into the PC nonsense.
Give me a break.
This is Trump's main problem. Everything is about HIM. He should want to be at the debate to showcase his views and try to sway last minute Iowa voters. But, because FOX refuses to give in to his demand, he is acting like a spoiled brat and will not attend. Again, making everything about him, not the people that he is supposed to want to lead.
I picture him in a corner somewhere stomping his feet and whining about Megyn Kelly like a toddler would. If he truly wants to be POTUS he needs to put his big boy pants on and realize that not everyone is going to do what he wants.
By not attending this debate, he is showing his true colors. He is a egotistical tyrant who is simply in this race to boost his ego and see his face on TV. If he cared about the American public, he would be attending the debate instead of trying to prove some juvenile point.

*Let me preface this by saying I am in no way a Trump, Clinton or Bernie supporter*
Trump is an equal opportunity insulter. If he dosent like someone or someone challenges him he insults them. If it happens to be a woman he tends to use chauvinism. That is not right but I can't say that indicates full hatred or discrimination of women. Just really shows he has a small mind to deal with confrontation. All bad for foreign relations.
I don't think it is ever appropriate to suggest someone should be "ashamed" for supporting a particular candidate. I could say to someone "You should be ashamed of yourself for voting for a candidate that is pro-choice/pro-life..." ect. There are many hot topics but we must respect and hear the opposing platforms even if it makes our blood boil. Tolerance and respect.
you can say that you should be ashamed for being pro choice and voting for that person that's your opinion ... just like the person who would be voting that way can think I can give two craps if you think I should be ashamed I still will vote for that person who is pro choice and I am not ashamed

I agree he has to tone it down a bit, but that is not affecting my decision that he is better for the job than Bernie. He can be so d down, political views are not easily changed. Bernie is too liberal for what we need. Clearly a lot feel that way too, look at the poll, and look at all outside polls. If anyone thinks I should be ashamed of myself for going for him, well you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't feel ashamed at all and I am entitled to my own stance just like every other person who is voting in this election. With that said I will not defend my right to vote for who I want anymore on this thread.
No-one should ever be ashamed for their views, but I think we should all defend our views. That's the beauty of being an American!
My public service announcement to all: Please vote. I personally love these topics because it is great to see people put the effort into learning about our candidates and are passionate about the future of our country. Many people around the world (especially women) do not have the right to vote, so make sure you exercise that right by casting your ballot in both the September primaries and the November general election.

Re: Spinoff: If you had to
I would like to know how people who use the term "PC" define it.
I am not sure that everyone is using the same operative definition.
So, for example, if someone makes sweeping generalizations about a sex or an ethnicity, and someone else says to stop that because it's unfounded and harmful, and the second person is accused of being "PC," what should "PC" be defined to mean in that context?

You know that "PC" stands for politically correct, right? Given that Trump wants to be a politician, he should be politically correct because he is looking to be elected by some of those people who don't want him insulting them.
Your CEO analogy is comparing an apple to an orange. Unlike a president who is elected by people, employees have no say in who is appointed CEO of a company. The president should care about the American People, because Corporate America (i.e. Trump) sure as hell does not care about them at all which is evident from the stagnation of wage increases for the past 40 years.

My family in Europe thinks it is hysterical that there are people in this country who are actually entertaining the idea that Trump would make a good president. This is coming from people in a small town in Italy. Now imagine what the bigger and powerful countries/towns/cities are thinking about this?

Spinoff: If you had to
I am honestly surprised that so many would vote for Trump.
May I ask why? He has said so many rather un-presidential things (interment camps), Operation Wetback, etc. Although I know a lot of politicians say things to stir emotions and get a response, I wouldn't have expected so many in New York area to support such ideas.
Not saying Sanders is 'better' by any means. Although I find it ironic that those who complain about this ideas of free this or free that didn't complain when Obama offered free this or free that. Nothing's ever really free.
I concur with a few of the others who basically say the whole group is a hot mess. However, to the point of the other thread, I'd still not vote for Hilary. Yes, I'd like a woman president. But I'd also like to be a rich woman myself but not by selling my soul to the devil. I'd rather wait for a better candidate. After all, choosing a president shouldn't be about gender at all right? Isn't that what we're aiming for? Having a horrible female president doesn't make it right. Just makes it historical, nothing to be that proud of. Frankly, I'm still of the opinion that woman should be in jail.
My friends and I (cross the country NY & CA to TX) have all been wondering who the Trump supporters are. I have never seen so many willingly admit to voting for him so without getting messy,.. Give me 5 good reasons you believe he will make a good President for this country. I'd love to hear how you see it. Understanding a lot of what we see in the media is fed to us to develop our opinions, but some of what we feel is just our own gut. So what makes you think he'd fit?

Spinoff: If you had to
**political conspiracy theory ahead: you've been warned**
I don't think Trump really even wants to be president. At least not for the right reasons. There are people who devote their whole lives to public service, maybe never making it past mayor and they are find with that. I think he's accomplished a lot and what else is left to tackle? This.
But I do wonder if he has regrets. His recent behavior isn't .. Normal. At least politically. He's not debating tomorrow because of the moderator. He will be with the troops instead. Nice, but that's really not the norm. It hints to him dismissing the other candidates though because I bet most won't tune in without him there. And I'm sure he will say how ratings were so low because he wasn't there. Probably true.
Secondly .. Palin. That's just a bad move. She brought down any chance McCain had. It was so bizarre that whole speech she gave and her endorsement .. And he stood there, happy as a clam. Just something off about it.
Trump - he's not a quitter. Too big an ego. But let's say he decided he really doesn't want this. Maybe he shook things up and enjoyed it but now he has regrets. He can't bow out due to ego. So what to do? Makes bad choices. Worse choices. Says something crazy (crazy even for him) that he could shoot and kill someone and still get elected. He gives Palin a platform. He decides not to do this debate tomorrow (and I mean.. We are in the prime time now .. Elections aren't that far off .. It'll be here in a matter of months).
I mean, it's just odd. To me. It just seems he became a little (more) unhinged and I wonder if it's all to try and lose and then throw his hands in the air and say "this world is doomed, I could have made America great, I denounce politics" etc. writes a book, continues on rants , makes more money on a book deal and speaking engagements. He still is in public eye, still gets to feed his ego, gets to say "I told you so" and eventually curtains slowly close.
Now maybe I'm wrong. But just something doesn't feel right ...you know? Maybe I'm crazy. But just something is nagging at me ... Something is off here.
Again, not voting for trump, but I can see some of his appeal to others and respect whomever someone votes for.

I said this exact theory to my mom this morning!
I think he was as surprised as the rest of us were about his popularity and is now trying to go balls to the wall crazy to maybe deter people because he is having an "oh crap, what if I'm actually president" moment.
That, or he is really working with Hillary to destroy the GOP so her chances are that much better. She did attend his wedding lol

I do think you might be on to something. IMO it's a bad move to skip the debate. This could be his chance to wipe the floor with Megyn Kelly, which he should want to do since he hates her so much, right? But now 1) he has people saying he won't be able to handle unfriendly leaders of other countries which is a valid point and 2) he is giving at least one, if not more, Republican candidates a chance to shine and win over voters because the focus will not be on him. I might actually watch for a change.
This Fox News quote made me "We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings."
And it turns out he did poll social media about whether or not he should attend. Is this how he intends to lead? He's a dumbass.

Maybe he is in cahoots and this is to get a dem in office. But let's say Sanders wins and not Clinton, something no one fathomed because at the start, everyone figured Hillary would have this in the bag. So Sanders gets in and now Trump and all are now at a risk of paying higher taxes. Trumps tax plan has them at 25% I think (offhand , I haven't studied the chart for each tax bracket). So that would have been a big risk, no?
It's just so weird.
Or maybe he's legitimately crazy. Maniacal. A textbook narcissist. There's been studies/theories that the super super wealthy businessmen are all sociopathic in some way. Not murders, but ruthless. Emotionless, inflated egos, self-serving, etc. The theory is that they almost have to be like this in order to be that successful. Look at Steve Jobs. He was no peach. Brilliant and amazing, but cutthroat. He screwed over his best friend Steve. He screwed many. Look at Mark Zuckerberg. Same thing.
All very interesting. I'm curious how this all plays out.

My husband works with a bunch of trump supporters and it drives him nuts and he is the most unpolitical person I know (won't even vote- which pisses me off, but I digress). Their reasoning? Because all brown people are terrorists and/or moochers and need to be removed from this country and prevented from coming in. These are the type of people he appeals to.

I said the same thing when his "presidential run" first began! I thought it was all one big publicity stunt for The Apprentice . I think it was a surprise to many (including him) that he started leading the polls and I still really do not believe he wants to be president.
I get his appeal. I think he's kind of a maniac, but I can see his appeal for many.

I do not mind he is "unpresidential" in his delivery. Career politicians have been polished and vetted every single word they put out there for the good of a polling point and do what they want anyway. Bill Clinton is historically one of the best public speakers as President that there ever was. Once you got him in the WH he's making a mess on a dress with an intern and Lord only knows what else. Seeming presidential on the surface does not mean they all act presidential in reality. In this case, you know what you are getting.
For the record, I do not agree with everything he says, I don't agree with everything anyone says. Also, you asked for 5 reasons, I am not looking and nor do I want to debate each one so no one should bother to quote me to have the discussion, I am answering the question only.
1. Trump is not beholden to special interest groups, he doesn't owe any political favors. The current candidates on both sides cannot claim this. He is also a smart businessman. 2. I agree something needs to be done about illegal aliens. Massive deportment? No, but this is my personal opinion. Does something need to be done? Absolutely. The entire system needs to be overhauled. I'm not entirely oppposed to a wall on the Mexican border. I have 2 cousins who are CBP and work that border, one in CA and the other in AZ. It is very dangerous, most people are unaware of what goes on all the time. 3. Tax Reform. 4. He supports Second Amendment Rights 5. I think he is the only Rep that has a chance at beating Hillary.
I have met him. It was a long time ago in college, but I met him. He was very close friends with a couple I was friends with in college, so I met him socially, not on a rope line or at a book signing. He is very smart. I like the no BS way he has. Some people do not.
Personally I am socially liberal, I agree with gay rights, I am pro-choice. I am also a registered Democrat.
That being said, I like things about Carly Fiorino, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz and Ben Carson. I wish I could take the best each of them has to offer and make one candidate, but I can't. Sometimes stuff comes out of Trump's mouth and I wince because I know how it is going to be received. He is passionate about how he feels and the delivery is not as polished as some would like. He is not a career politician. Not everyone liked Teddy Roosevelt's delivery or Winston Churchill, but they got the job done. Trump is neither of these men, but that doesn't mean he doesn't mean not to do well.
Hillary is a lying, deceitful criminal. I find no redeeming qualities about her and believe she cannot be trusted as she has only ever looked out for herself. She should not even be able to be a candidate, but ok, this is what it is. For me, Sanders will never make a strong leader for this country. He is weak.
Those are my 5 reasons. Feel free to debate amongst yourselves, as I will not.

I'm sure Trump is as much a lying, deceitful criminal as you think that Hillary is. To become as big of a businessman as he is, you have to be. He didn't make his money playing nicey nice and following the rules. How many times has he declared bankruptcy again?

I think that was said fairly without much snark. Thanks.
Being Texan, the border is definitely an issue. You are ABSOLUTELY right that most of this country has NO CLUE how bad it really is. Words don't really sink in. It's extreme and affects us all (more so us who are closer). However having a rather dark skinned family and including a rather middle eastern looking brother who is often referred to as "Paki" it is a bit terrifying the general hate.
Also having a husband who's a legal green card holder, how long before we stop looking at brown and move to the yellow? And being an Atheist, when will be we hunted over Muslims?
But thank you for your reasons.
