So many workouts to choose from?
So my IG account is inundated with snippets of workout videos - people jumping and squatting and lifting etc etc. Its so overwhelming.
How do you decide if you are just a run or walk type of person or if you need these circuit training exercises? Is it to keep you from getting bored or to add muscle? I see moms working out while the babies are crawling around them and their dedication blows my mind.
I guess my question is do you think its better to do cardio first to lose weight then work in some of these more varied workouts to tone? or will you lose as much weight doing these type of work outs as just plain cardio?
TIA

So many workouts to choose from?
I think it is best to do a combination of weight training and cardio.
For me, I am at the point where I am in good shape. I do cardio 6 days a week and I lift 3-4 times a week. I am now looking to increase my muscle definition which is going to require me to redirect my fitness routine - I know I need to lift more consistently and change up my eating habits.

You need cardio/weights/diet to lose weight. Diet is 95% of it. All the cardio in the world won't help if you aren't eating right. The weight training (and you don't need weights - you can use body weight) will help boost metabolism.
eat right and the rest will follow.

Re: So many workouts to choose from?
I believe in combining cardio and weight training/ i like jillian michaels workouts and workouts like it where it is high intensity intervals, like shell do a little of this and a little of that but its paced well. I find i am losing well with this. If I can i also try to run on a treadmill 1x a week but its hard to get to the gym. I am a mom who now does the dvds at home with a preschooler throwing things at me while i do it lol. But its working. on days i want to be lazy but not skip a workout entirely, i try to do yoga or pilates or 10 minutes of toning videos. But I think workouts that have a lot more cardio def. boost metabolism and help you lose weight faster. but you have to like it, so you will gravitate towards what you like best.

This is me! I've got 3 preschoolers running around and on days that I can't get to the gym while they are at school for 2.5 hours, which is quite a bit lately, I workout at home to a Jillian Michaels DVD. I have her total body revolution workout and love it. This combined with my diet has really helped me to lose weight and tone up.
