Hair Falling out -- still pregnant?
I've always had clumps of hair fall out in the shower but it's much less since I've been pregnant. Then suddenly today I had a good amount lost again in the shower. I wasn't too worried about it but told a friend that is a new mom and she thinks maybe I have a vitamin deficiency or something worse and I need to call my Doctor. I hate calling my Dr. unless I'm really worried about something. I've been taking Nature Made Prenatal vitamins from the start and I'm 31 weeks.
Is it totally crazy to lose hair while pregnancy? She said she never lost any hair but I know every pregnancy is different. Should I be concerned?
I should note that my nails NEVER got stronger this pregnancy.

Re: Hair Falling out -- still pregnant?
I'm 29 weeks and I don't feel like my hair got any thicker or anything. I've always had pretty fine hair and I find I've lost about the same amount while pregnant as I did before and while my iron was a little low, everything else has been good all along. I would probably bring it up at my next appointment, but as long as you're feeling good and baby is moving, I wouldn't call up specifically for that. But I'm like you, not really a worrier. I wouldn't call unless I thought there was something seriously wrong.

You're getting to the end and all the hormonal changes make peoples bodies react differently so I wouldn't stress.
I'm 29 weeks and my hair is not falling out but it didn't get thicker either.
For DD#1 I remember my hair falling out after giving birth not before but honestly I wouldn't worry.

I really don't think you noticing hair falling out for one day is a sign of anything bad. Just keep taking your prenatals and I'm sure you'll be fine. As long as the baby is growing, then I wouldn't think about any of these things.
FWIW, I didn't notice my nails getting stronger during my second pregnancy. And I didn't pay attention to my hair falling out during either one. I just know I lost lots of hair afterwards! (which is totally normal)

Hair Falling out -- still pregnant?
Thanks ladies! I really do hate calling my Doctor between visits unless I really have an emergency (basically the only times I've called are when I've fallen!) and also hate worrying about every symptom so this is reassuring.

Hair Falling out -- still pregnant?
One of my pregnancy apps just was recently mentioning this, saying you may actually notice your hair and nails getting brittle as the baby takes more and more from you. It made me feel better because I've been noticing that on one of my eyes my eyelashes were thinning. They seem to have made a comeback but it was annoying for a while.

This. Your pregnancy isn't going to be the same as your friend's pregnancy. I was as neurotic as they come and I don't think I would have even noticed if I more hair than usual fell out in the shower.

My nails are super strong. Like.. people think they're fake.
My hair however... is dry and brittle and USED to have a beautiful natural curl. Now I HAVE to do it every day or its a hot mess. Its not thick or luxurious like other people have said their hair got during pregnancy. I've always had fine hair... but this is ridiculous. I'm losing about the same amount.
Did you wear your hair up longer than usual yesterday?

I know! That's what I said! Of course she made me feel like it's a bad thing and that's why I had to second guess myself. IGRRR.
Well I noticed because I literally clogged the drain for the first time in like 9 months. It was fairly gross

Good! Yea, my nails are TERRIBLE. The crack and peel worse than ever. I was really excited that my nails would get strong for the pregnancy and was definitely disappointed when they didn't!
