McDonald's Bday party?
There's a McDonald's near Broadway Mall with a large indoor play area and birthday rooms. DS' bday is in October (he's 6 now) and we've been lucky with weather the past few years to have it at our house, but the kids are getting older and it was a little too rowdy last year (I said it was like "Lord of the Flies" in the backyard!).
Would you go to a party at McDonald's? We don't know many people here so we tend to invite the whole class (he'll be in second grade).
From what I understand, the kids get time to play, happy meals, cake, and a treat bag.

IMO, its a cute idea. There once was a time when people had parties at McD. I dont have kids but YES, if I had I would attend.
PS, that location has lots of room. The kids can be crazy and make a mess and you dont have to worry about the clean up.

Haven't been in a very long time but I remember that McDonalds being AWESOME. If it's the same one I went to just past the mall, it was huge with lots to do. Anyway, we would go.

ME TOO!
I think there are people who are turned off by McD and wont allow their children to eat it. To me a party is a party and everything in moderation is fine (and fun)

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
I had my 6th birthday at McDonald's but I would not have DC bday there ever because I don't allow them to eat food from there.
However I would still allow them to go to a bday party there.

I have had parties at Mcd's, but I wouldn't do it for a 6-7 year old. I think they'd be bored.

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
One day of fast food for a birthday party will NEVER harm you. I think we need to start teaching our kids about healthy moderation rather than banning a specific food, treat, etc.
In real life, you have days where you eat junk food. And that's ok. As long as it's not all the time. Unless you are eating rat poison, nothing will ever hurt you if you are eating it once in a blue moon.
Wait till they get to college! That will really make your skin crawl with what they end up putting in their mouth!

Agree with above. I think for a 7 year old party it is a bit too boring. 5 or under I would say yes.

I agree completely -- and the people i know who eat the worst are the ones that were allowed nothing as kids. I believe in moderation in everything in life!

McDonald's Bday party?
Yes, definitely and I would allow my kid to eat the freakin happy meal and I'd probably treat myself to a vanilla shake while I'm at it (oh they are godly - and it's been ages).
Once in a while, Mickey D's is fine. :)
But agree about the age. I am not sure 7 year olds would enjoy it. I feel like it is better for 4-5 year olds.

McDonald's Bday party?
I personally love me some Chicken Nuggets w/ sweet & sour sauce and fries. It's my Mickey D's go to. We eat fast food on occasion and I would totally let DD go to a Bday party there

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
My DD is 7 and while I wouldn't have an issue letting her go to a McDonald's bday party I do think she'd be bored. It's just not the type of venue that would keep her interested for any length of time. I think that type of party is better for younger, little ones.

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
Yes and I have had my kid's parties there a few times and the other kids loved it. They are in the play area the majority of the time and none of them seem bored to me at all.

McDonald's Bday party?
Funny most think the kids would be bored b/c when we go there on random days it seems like a good number of kids are older than DS. I wonder if it's different when there are kids they know to play with. DS is still too scared to go to the very top, so it didn't cross my mind that the specific place I'm referring to (with the giant play area) would be boring.

McDonald's Bday party?
I don't give my kids Mcd's to eat, but i would let them go to a party there. I do agree that 6 may be a bit old for that play area? Not sure but from what i see of them it's just a climbing area?

McDonald's Bday party?
I don't know for sure since I got second hand info, but my friend said it's $200 for 10 kids (including play time, happy meals, and cake). Not sure though since I didn't call myself.

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
I said no because barely any of my friends let their kids eat McDonalds, ever. And on top of that I think 6-7 is a little too old for a party in that play place. I think it would get incredibly rowdy and I think if there was a younger party going on at the same time it may get even more difficult. I think that Chuck E. Cheese might be a better pick and it's not far from that McDonalds.

Re: McDonald's Bday party?
i don't like McDonalds... but that's me. an adult.
kids love that stuff; and let's face it, you don't eat your healthiest of meals at birthday parties.
ok, with that said.
if my kid were invited, i'd take him! i had a McDonalds birthday for DS once or twice. all the kids had a great time.
