contractions question
I have been having contractions off and on for the last week but today's feel different. They make breathing more difficult and they are wrapping around my back a little, whcih I know is a sign that they arent BH. But, I can't really notice that they are a discrete pattern. I feel tight and crampy pretty much all the time. There are times when it gets more intense but it is hard to figure out the start and stop time since I"m always feeling contracted to some degree. Is this how contractions start? I was induced last time and I do remember being crampy all day and didn't have a sense I was having real contractions when I had the cervadil in but once I went into full labor, they were more discrete. Thoughts?

Re: contractions question
Call your OB. When I had contractions they came and went so I could time them, so I'm no help!

contractions question
With my first, when my contractions first started they were not too bad but we're spaced very consistently so I knew that was it (I was also 13 days over due). But once they intensified, I really couldn't time them bc they seemed to never end. I would think one was over and then it would start again almost immediately. I complained to my mom that they just kept coming and she laughed at me. The woman on the emergency linewas upset i wasnt really time them but it was impossible. Then once I was at the hospital on the monitor everyone realized what I meant. Each of my contractions lasted probably 3 minutes with multiple peaks. Then I'd get a thirty second break and it would start again. Needless to say I never needed any pitocin but it was still a long labor.

Re: contractions question
Mine was like that at first. Like intense at times where i had to stop what I was doing, but very irregular ,not timeable and all over the place. That was Sunday. Monday I worked from home because I wasn't sure what was going on. By 2 am Monday night into Tuesday it got me out of bed it was getting so uncomfy. By 5 am Tuesday I was able to time them and they were more regular. Called the Dr's service at 6 am and they had me go to the hospital to get checked. Got to hospital around 730 am and by the time I was checked at 8 ish I was 3-4 cm.
So it could mean something!

Re: contractions question
Thanks everyone. My dr said the other day to call when there is a consistent pattern whether no matter how far apart they are. I just got home so I'm going to relax and see if there is a pattern or if they progress at all. I have 8 more hours before I avoid a leap year baby so I'm crossing my legs and hoping they stay like this for awhile

Haha that's what I've been avoiding. Tomorrow I'm trying all the old wives tales to bring on labor, just have to get through today.

I did and contractions still haven't gotten regular. They actually decreased in intensity overnight I have a NST, U/S and OB appt today so I'll get to see what's happening.
