don't give snacks until he starts eating again. A few days being picky won't hurt him.
LAst night dd, almost 3, wanted a cookie, but wouldn't/didn't eat her dinner. She was also throwing a tantrum and yelling at me, she wound up in a time out (for behavior). When she came out, she said she was hungry and wanted a cookie. I told her she had to eat her dinner but she's not getting a cookie now (behavior again) but she could have her french fries and bread if she ate her chicken. She ate every last piece of chicken.
You have to be stern. Just keep offering. If he doesn't eat he doesn't eat. next meal time offer again. He will get hungry and start eating.
I know it's super hard, b/c you just want them to eat anything, but it's a control issue for him. Hang in there. He will eat again.
ETA Cut out the milk too that fills them up a lot. We don't allow them to get milk at restaurants anymore b/c they don't eat their dinner than. Limit it to Mornings for a while and offer water only the rest of the day

We go through it every so often. We don't cater to kids desires with food. Both hold out for a meal or two... But then eat (and we don't make kids meals: we do fish, stew, vegg, etc). I honestly think it's the way to go. We also don't do snacks.

I am from that camp too. I'd rather her eat something than nothing. She is perfectly healthy never sick ,she is just a picky eater. I don't chose to fight the battle of food.... I am just happy when she eats something.

Same here - we don't fight the food battle either. DD won't eat any veggies or fruit if they resemble their natural state. She's 3 eventually she's going to grow up and realize what she's been missing out on. For now she lives on yogurt, fruit pouches, cheese, pasta, chicken nuggets, cheerios, pancakes, waffles and meatballs. When I start to worry her diet is too limited I try to remember she is a strong and healthy kid. It's just a phase - this too shall pass...

Totally agree. DH gets nuts and reaks that she is going to starve. I am like trust me she is fine! She will eat strawberries, bananas, goldfish and of all things special K on occasion but most of the time it just sits there. Total waste of $$!!

Just to be clear, I do cook what she eats. She does not eat Veggies and just starting to get her fruits. SHe's being a PITA. She gets chicken nuggets, grilled cheese etc. I just meant to eat more than what OP was mentioning. As long as she eats, but it is kid food. I just meant if she typically snacks less, and less milk and such she will eat more real meals
