Laparoscopy question
I just wanted some advice from some of you. Basically, been TTC for over 3 years..did IVF- one fresh transfer and one frozen transfer. So far, not one single pregnancy ever.
My RE said the remaining tests are those used for women with recurring miscarriages. Since my fertility is completely unexplained being that on paper, everything is great- yet I cannot get PG, he would be willing to have me get these tests.
One is a laparoscopy for possible endometriosis. He said it's up to me but in his opinion, he'd be surprised if I have endometriosis. I do not have heavy periods, have no pain at all during periods, no pain during sex, etc. He also said even if I do have endo, treating it would only up my chances of conceiving by 5 %.
Has anyone discovered they had endometriosis and had been pain/symptom free? How bad is the laparoscopy? I'm trying to decide if I should do it. DH said not to bother based on the lack of symptoms and the fact that treating it doesn't do that much.
Any thoughts?

Re: Laparoscopy question
I did have an RE suggest a Lap on me since I, too, was perfect on paper.
I also had no symptoms. However I had the normal Day 1 cramping. Which after 2 Aleve I was good to go the rest of the cycle.
I ended up going thru with the Lap. I had very mild endo. But it wasn't my reason of IF because it still hadn't made a way for a pregnancy.
Get the immune testing done. If those results are all negative; then consider a lap. That's my opinion.

Laparoscopy question
Thanks girls. How was the recovery? How long did you take off from work? Did the scar heal?

It's a tiny incision below belly button. I actually just looked & I can't see it.
Recovery is nothing at all. I'm pretty sure I had it done on a Thursday; so I was most likely off Friday & Rested for The weekend. No pain whatsoever.

Oh wow! Good to know. When I read about the surgical site, I was beginning to wonder if it's like a c section in terms of recovery. Thanks!

Re: Laparoscopy question
Lap should be done if unexplained. I had one, thought we had endo. I did not have any endo. It was helpful to learn. Test was no big deal.

Thanks.. so when you say it was no big deal, I'm assuming you had an easy recovery like HopelesslyDiscouraged? I was scared the recovery would be 4-6 weeks but if I can get away with just taking 3-4 days off from work, and the scar heals, then I'll do it.

Laparoscopy question
I was fine afterwards. I took a few days off from work. I had it done with the Davinci machine so I had stitches in my belly button and two on each side of my belly. Definitely not a c-section recovery. I went in to surgery at 7pm (crazy) and was on the road by 1 am home.

Thanks. OMG- 7 PM! You must have been starving! I'm assuming there are no eating restrictions for that day!

Laparoscopy question
I also had an easy lap recovery. They made 3 small incisions - one in my belly button and 2 sorta over the ovary area. I went to work the next day and was just a little sore. They found no endo during my lap but did ovarian drilling.

hmm well for me they just looked around and came out. So it was nothing. But for someone who has endo removed, I guess it could be a longer recovery. But I have had an actual c section and that was a 4-6 week recovery. I can't imagine a lap really being 4-6 weeks even if ENDO was removed. KWIM?

No no way. They are not cutting you open in a large incision for a lap, you will not have blood loss, etc. Def do not think of it in any way like a csection recovery. Not even remotely close, even if endo is removed.

My lap took about 6 weeks to recover BUT I do have endo and a terrible case of it...but to the OP it's really not bad I've had multiple laps done. good luck with what you decide
