Do most churches have a sent donation amount for a baptism?
When do you make the donation? The day of the baptism? When I met with the priest he didn't mention anything about a donation at all.

I was told to give what I could and could give it at any time, including at the baptism. I asked the secretary if there was a suggested amount and she just said some people give a little, some give a lot and some don't give anything at all. DD is having a private baptism on a Saturday and I'm thinking in the $300-$500 range. We are not parishioners and I was not asked to join, however, I did attend the school and made all of my sacraments there (except marriage because DH is Jewish).

Re: baptism donation

There was no suggested amount. I think we gave $75, or maybe even $50 and we just handed it in at the baptism.

Mine never mentioned a donation and I didn't know people even donated until well after DS was baptized...

Thanks all. The parent class is tomorrow. I told DH to bring a blank check. I never received any paper or anything.

Re: baptism donation

Our church doesn't have a set amount either. We gave $250 because the priest really went out of his way to get us to have a private ceremony on the day we needed due to some family issues.

Re: baptism donation

I think we gave $300 or somewhere around there. We got a private ceremony on a Saturday when they normally do Baptisms on Sundays.

Re: baptism donation

Ours suggested $100. We lucked out that it was private, but that was pure luck, not anything on our or the church's part. If we had asked for private, or a different day, then we would have given more.

We did $50. We were not in a financial position to give more than that at the time.
