Weaning a Toddler Book
DS will be 2 next week - OMG - I can't believe it.
Anyway, he is still a nursing champ, which I have a love/hate relationship with. I do not think he is one of those kids that will easily self wean. I am looking for recommendations about a book for toddlers that prepares them for weaning. I saw some on Amazon, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

I'll surely follow this post! Although ds2 is only 8 months, I have a feeling he'll be like that too considering he's ebfeeds and doesn't take bottles

DS has not taken a bottle since 9 months old. I feel like bottles would be easier - at least you can take those away. Recently, DS has been wanting to nurse more - I'm like are you kidding me?!? I am hoping reading a book to him every night will help ease us into weaning.

Weaning a Toddler Book
A friend of mine had some luck with the book Sally weans from night nursing. Her son was very attached to nursing and abruptly weaned on his second birthday-although she was pregnant so I'm sure that had some influence.

Re: Weaning a Toddler Book
following bc my 2 yr old DS is still nursing and shows no signs of stopping. He nurses 1st thing in the morning, before his nap and again at bedtime. I'm so over it. I just know that it's not going to be easy and i'm dreading it. I'm at a loss as to how to even get him to stop. I don't want it to be a traumatic experience.

I am glad to hear I am not alone. My DS would nurse all day if I let him. I try to limit him to 3 times, but sometimes he sneaks in a 4th session. I am going to actively try to wean in the fall. I am a teacher so I am home all summer and would think weaning would be very difficult at that point plus he would just rip down my tank top and nurse. I tried going away without him twice and both times he obviously started nursing again.

Re: Weaning a Toddler Book
dont get the red earring book from amazon. i bought it bc of the reviews, but it was boring and useless. i wound up adding words when i read the cookie monster "too big for bottles" book. DD loves that book and it def helped with the transition.
