My wedding planning experience wouldn't have been the same without it. 2009-2011 I was on there and really got to know so many of the girls! ended up going to a few of their weddings even. Makes me sad that other brides to be are missing out!
2011 brides have a baby group on Facebook and its nice to see how they are doing . :)

I agree. We had a good group of girls that posted a lot.

I was also on from 2009-2011 and I agree, I don't know what I would have done without that forum. I got so much help - pretty much daily. DH was spared a lot because of those ladies lol

i'm sad hear this. i was a lurker for about a year before i joined in prior to getting married in 07 (dear lord almost 10 years?!!!!! wow)
i found it invaluable. I don't think i'd like to use facebook for planning; i loved the anonymity liw afforded. but it's a different world i guess.
eta: i hung around long after getting married just because i loved the whole planning experience and loved chiming in.

Sad that it's become deserted now. Yes, I agree, I prefer the anonymity of LIW for planning and would not have used fb to plan. Of course, I'm an 08 bride and that was the year of the fake bride canceling another bride's vendors while impersonating her... so yeah anonymity is a good thing. But can't blame brides for leaving if they were being censored in favor of vendors.

I was also on from 2009-2011 and I agree, I don't know what I would have done without that forum. I got so much help - pretty much daily. DH was spared a lot because of those ladies lol
Same here- I couldn't imagine planning my wedding without it. I still tell every bride to be I know to check it out, but it's so different now.

I think so. That was just one crazy drama story from that time lol there was crazy drama practically everyday.

What happened to LIWeddings?
i know my best friend and future sil are getting married and I put them on the site but i am sooo sad at how quiet it is... Does anyone know of facebook groups they can join? Also looking for buy sell wedding item groups

That website was soooooo helpful when I got married (2010). And it was crazy busy- you could post a question and within 5 minutes, it would most likely have been answered.
I'm really surprised that brides would rather go on a FB group. You have no anonymity on FB groups right? On LIWeddings, people would vent about problems, post pictures of themselves in their dresses, etc.

This and I also just find FB groups not as well organized and laid out as forums like this.
I like the fact that there are different boards here- i can jump around between Celebs, Fashion, Parenting, etc. I like the layout better.
I never got into posting in FB groups.
Just not my thing. To me it just blows up my newsfeed with more crap.

The year I used it, there were two vendors who royally screwed brides (a florist who never showed up on the wedding day and a photographer who was overheard talking crap about another bride at a wedding showcase). LIW kept deleting all posts about it and I think a lot of woman got annoyed that they felt like they were only reading the good things rather than entire reviews.

Yes, LIW def. takes down any bad reviews. Same here for LIF. There is a vendor on here that has an awful rep but bc they pay the bad stuff gets taken down.

Yes, LIW def. takes down any bad reviews. Same here for LIF. There is a vendor on here that has an awful rep but bc they pay the bad stuff gets taken down.
This happened to me. I used a cleaning service advirtised on here when I first moved to my current home. They did a terrible job and I complained about it on here. Well, (and this is beyond creepy)... the owner of the company personally CALLED ME.. told me he wanted to send another crew over-- and asked me to update my post to reflect that they corrected the issue. It was so creepy!
I went back to edit my post with the updated story that they sent a new team, and saw my post had been entirely deleted.
You gotta take LIF reviews lightly if it's for a vendor.

Yea, The florist was a prior year but happened while I was on the boards (maybe a 2011/2012 wedding?). The photographer happened to a bride who was on there pretty frequently our year.
