North Merrick Reviews?
I just went into contract on a house in North Merrick. Coming from Queens, I really know nothing about the area. So... What can you tell me? Where do you order take out? Or get your nails done? How is the drinking water? Etc. Thanks in advance!!

I would love to know this too since that is one of the areas we're looking in!
I have been going to La Piazza for years and their food is great. Esp the Buffalo chicken pizza. I think that's considered Merrick though not North.
We've also eaten at La Strada which was pretty good Italian food.

I don't live in North Merrick, but nearby. I also moved here from Queens. There are several nice salons on Merrick Rd. that do nails. I like North Shore Farms in N. Bellmore and Iavarone in Wantagh. We like Pit Stop for takeout, Jani in Wantagh for Chinese, Onzon in Bellmore for Thai (and its BYOB if you eat there).
Just give up on pizza. You won't find pizza out here as good as what's in Queens.

I grew up in N. Merrick but went to Bellmore schools.
My Hero is a fantastic sandwich place. Everything else has probably changed since I moved away 12 years ago lol.

smith street deli is an amazing deli. Savoy on merrick Ave is pricey but good food. theres 1001 nail places. lol you just have to try some out and see what you like.

I like Pizzeli's on Newbridge Rd for pizza. My friend recommends Happy Group in Merrick for Chinese. I have been meaning to try it.

I live in North bellmore and seriously go to North Merrick all the time.
The stop and shop is brand new, For greek food Santorini on Merrick ave is great! I get my nails done at Nail house on merrick ave.
In general its a really great central location in Nassua its right off sunrise and he southern state and you can also easily go north or south on the meadowbook.

We are looking at a few houses in the area netween Sunrise amd SSP, are there any negatives to this area? How crowded does the LIRR lot get?

I live south of merrick road so can't comment on the area. But the train station is pretty filled by 730. Definitely can't get a spot in the lot past 8.

The area between the southern state and sunrise is actually where we wound up buying. So far we love everything about it. There's definitely a community feel to the neighborhood. And everything is within walking distance, so that's a huge plus. I haven't had any experience with the railroad yet, so I can't comment on that.

thanks everyone, DH & I are going to try keep targeting this area - we went to put in a bid on a house a little further south by Sunrise but our agent told us seller had already accepted an offer.
We have been searching on and off for a year now, would like to find something in our price range that doesnt need a ton of updates. We are at 450K max, which is probably why we can't find something decent. It is discouraging trying to find a good house in the area we want.
