Both have down falls. They break. If you leave an umbrella up on a semi windy day both can break.

We have a glass top and I HATE it. You are constantly cleaning it. I also have an aluminum one, which is so much better.

patio furniture....glass or tile top?
I have glass and I like it because I can clean it and actually know that it's clean. We had a teak table before the glass one and it annoyed me that I couldn't get it clean enough.

I like the glass top- We got one last year and don't have any complaints.. We store it in the garage during the winter just to make sure it doesn't shatter from the weight of the snow

I have a tile top and I prefer that. I can buy new tiles if I want to change the look of the table, or if a tile breaks, again, it's easy to replace. Glass table that break, well, you need a whole new table.

I have a tile top and the tiles can get kind of grimey around the edges. It drives me nuts to get into the grooves. Also, you have to watch where you put down your glass sometimes because it can be uneven between the tiles and things can spill over. If I were buying again, I would go with glass instead.

We just bought a glass one. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but just based on appearances, I really love it.

Re: patio furniture....glass or tile top?
Based on how my aunts and uncles puts their paws down onto the table to stand up and how heavy the platters we use are , a glass top wasn't for me. I liked the tile tops but wound up with a cast aluminum. The top has a design where crumbs can fall through the bottom so cleaning is a breeze lol...as long as I keep the broom handy

patio furniture....glass or tile top?
I have a glass top telescope table. I've had it almost 10 years and it is still in great shape. I do put it away during the winter but it is not very heavy so not a big deal. It is annoying to keep clean, especially with pollen, but I just hose it down. It is very sturdy. This past summer a freak thunderstorm came through early one morning and lifted up the table, umbrella and all, and threw it across the patio. Umbrella was bent beyond repair but table, upside down on the bluestone, was undamaged.

We bought an aluminum one last year. It looks like wood.
We had the glass one, and agree it got so dirty. Wind blew the umbrella and somehow hit the glass. It sounded like a huge explosion. Billions of shards of glass were all over. The glass was popping as we were cleaning it up.
