82" is 6'10" off the ground. That's high. But CO2 is lighter than air, so it is supposed to be installed higher on the wall. When you buy a monitor, it'll explain where it needs to be installed. Some actually go on your ceiling.

I know! Yeah, I will see what the box says & have DH place it about the height where the inspector was motioning. He actually told me ceiling ones are no good so I'll stay away from those.

TOH code is you need a co & smoke detector for each floor (hallway) of your home (we got the combo). Each bed room needs a smoke detector also.

We have all mounted on the ceiling and they are 8'. Basement is a little shorter but also on the ceiling.
