Do you buy the school supply package from the pta?

Our do you shop the last? D's is going into first and the supplies are 40$. They include headphones and we'll be delivered to his class. I paid figuring it will save stress of finding specific supplies. But what do you do?

I have bought it the last two years when DS1 started Kindergarten and am doing it again for 2nd grade and for DS2 going into Kindergarten.
I don't love shopping around and finding exactly what they need. It's just not me. This is so much easier.

I was never offered an option from the PTA.
If i was i'd do it because I have zero patience for shopping for that stuff

I shop on my own.
With 3 or 4 school aged children it gets so expensive to buy from the school.
Last year I shopped the week school let out since we get our list in June. The store was totally empty. Everything was in stock. I got everything I needed in probably 15 min and spent for all the kids what it would cost for just the one PTA pack.
Plus at our school they give the cheapy paper type folders... those don't last a month with my animals.

If I didn't get the supply lists in June and had to wait until back to school time to do it then I would gladly pay the upcharge and go through school and just buy them the better folders on my own.

I find it cheaper to go to Walmart and pick out our own supplies. Plus DS thinks "it's fun".

I have done both and would recommend the package if you don't like going out trying to find everything on the lists the school gives out and crowds if you wait until the last minute.

We do it every year after my oldest finished K. I shopped the first year and spent more than the cost of the pack and had a hard time finding things. They want specific brands and specific color things. So much easier. Ours are grade/school specific so we order in April and then pick them up this Saturday boxed and ready. So easy.

I run it for my PTA so yes I purchase lol. We have alot of people argue they can find the stuff cheaper but there is nothing easier than clicking a button and having the complete box on their desk the first day of school. No lugging in supplies and they all come with labels too.

I do the package through the school. The supplies come a few weeks before school and it saves me the hassle.

Yes! The little extra money is worth the convenience, IMO.

I don't only because my girls would never be happy with the generic folders, notebooks and pencil boxes. It seems like a good deal from the paperwork I received this week.

Yes.
Ours is very specific (brands).
Cost is high ($60ish).... But when I tried to price out all the stuff... It seemed comparable to buying it myself.

My daughter likes to pick out her own stuff, so we didn't buy it.

We just got the K one. The pack is only $29 and there's no way I would be able to spend less that that so I figured I'd order it. If I don't like it, I won't do it for 1st.

Never did I always found better quality and prices on my own. The only thing I order is the planner.

I did it when DD was entering K because it was all new for me and the box seemed very convenient. We also got a voucher for 2 free movie tickets and a great coupon for the store that packaged the boxes (it's a Value Drugs with a movie theater in the back.) It was $25 which I thought was a great deal.

The next year they wanted $40 and there were fewer items. Also, I wanted to reuse DD's K binder and pencil case. I think I got all her stuff that year for $15 or $20. I haven't gotten the box since because it's no longer a good deal.

No, it's SO overpriced. I shop myself for school supplies and spend a fraction of what that kit costs.

We have roundup tomorrow, and it the info about the package came in the mail with the roundup invite and info.

Ummm what is round up? (Beside a weed killer?)

I don't buy the package. A few years ago staples ran these amazing penny sales. I have one bankers box size box in the office closet that is filled with school supplies. I am finally on my last new box of crayola crayons. I got my kids plasticized folders that look brand new after a full year of use in kindergarten. My son is going to fourth grade with the same folder. You can not tell they are used. He brought home two note books that were unused this year, but asked for next year. I am going to send them in. The only thing I think I need is glue sticks and markers. Then I will finally be done with our stash.

Haha! We had kindergarten roundup yesterday. They took the kids to classrooms for a mock day and a bus ride, while they gave the parents way too much information and overwhelmed us.
