We are contemplating a move to either NC or SC. We are investigating both states. What are some good areas of NC that are affordable, family friendly with good schools?

Union county has excellent schools. We moved there a few years ago, hated it and moved back.

Mostly everything except the weather and taxes. I was down there during the election of Obama in 2008. I found it very racist, and set in a few too many ways I don't care for. Most people were very sweet. One lady told me she didn't like mixed races together. I told her I was 4.5 months pg and my husband wasn't white. She turned around and walked away from me. So we waited out our lease and bought up here when the market went down.

My brother and SIL live there and they love it. Have no desire to come back to NY.

Re: North Carolina

On the realtor app I've looked at Chapel Hill N.C. and it looks beautiful. The houses seem affordable and there are good hospitals and colleges in the area. I've never actually been there but I'm def interested to see it.

Someone that used to work where I worked moved to Chapel Hill, I also know people who moved to Mooresville NC and Fort Mill, SC which is about 20 min south of Charlotte and supposed to be a nice area

Thanks for responding. I'm sorry you were treated like that! Ironically we are going down to SC to tour the area during this upcoming election. We'll see what that brings lol

I found that most towns that very highly ranked are still pretty $$ for out of Ny. We may move in a few years but want a very nice area as I am more leery out of NY! We look at Ballantyne, Nc and fort mill, sc (habersham division) most often.
