Anyone ever get a tattoo removed? I have 2 I want removed. One is on my upper outer thigh and the other is a big one on my calf. They were spurned the moment stupid decision tattoos. I'd like to get them removed but would like some recs on where to go? Also, does it scar when getting tattoos removed? TIA!

Re: Tattoo removal?
I am at the end of my removal process...had a small butterfly on my ankle which was a stupid decision I made when I was 18, removed. I went to Dr Flugman in Huntington...he's a dermatologist. I'll be up front in saying it is very painful and much MUCH more expensive than getting the tattoo done in the first place. They do it in sessions and spread them out every 8-10 weeks or so. I've been going for about a year....they say black and red are the easiest colors to remove, and that they can't tell you how many treatments you will need, since there are so many factors at play.

Tattoo removal?
Thanks! I have heard that it is painful. Like you, they were just very stupid decisions. One of them being when I was 18. I don't necessarily hate the tattoo but I hate the placement and size of the one on my calf. Is it scaring, how does it look?

Tattoo removal?
South Shore Tattoo in Amityville has someone they work with. I love everyone at South Shore so that would be where I start.

Re: Tattoo removal?
I've had several tattoo artists suggest doing a coverup instead of removal - because of the expense, and amount of time and pain that occurs for a removal.
have you looked into that?

Re: Tattoo removal?
I haven't had any scarring....some spots look whiter than my skin, but the doctor says that goes away... He does free consultations, you should call :)

That's good to know, my DH has a black and red tattoo that he wanted to cover up but couldn't (he talked to a tattoo artist about it). Does he charge you for each treatment or is it more like a flat rate?

Re: Tattoo removal?
Each visit is when he charges you...so at least it's not a ton of money up front
