Anyone get a powder gel mani?
Did it WRECK your nails?
I was talked into one about a week and a half ago and right off the bat I wasn't a fan. It was so much thicker than a regular gel mani. I felt like I had fake nails on, they were actaully a bit wider than my natural nail bed.... just not a fan.
They were hard as a rock though and felt super strong.
Until they started cracking and chipping and lifting off my nails and I starting picking at them (bad I know). It felt like I was removing glued on fake nails- I don't get it.
I soaked the rest off last night at home.
Now about half my nails are DESTROYED. Paper thin, soft, just awful. One of my nails is so short it actually hurts.. I don't recall it being that short prior to my manicure. I feel like half my nail came off with the gel.
I have pretty strong nails and now I'm back to using nailtiques until they recover I guess.
NEVER AGAIN!
I never had this issue with regular gel- yeah the acetone removal can be harsh but I never felt my nails were ripped off and destroyed from it.

never a full one, but once the nail tech used it to fix one of my nails.
Is it the SNS powder? I had asked bc they had a sign in the shop about it. but the lady said sometimes it hurts taking the polish off. its supposed to last like 3 weeks.
I stick to the regular gel manicures. no problems.

I dont know the brand but it didn't even last a week and a half before chipping, cracking and lifting on some nails.
And now my nails are the shittiest they have ever been.

Yes. This is what I normally get. And it never really hurt my nails because I get it so infrequently.
I was talked into this powder crap this time. It was $10 more, lasted way less than my regular shellac, was super thick, it made my nails look wider, hard to type with, and WRECKED my nails.
Never again.
Beware this shit.

The Shellac ruined my nails as well, but I have paper thin nails to start with.

I got the powder before I went to Italy this year. Some woman sitting next to me convinced me when I told my nail lady that I needed something that will last a full two weeks without chipping.
Never again.
I usually just get regular manicures and enjoy how it looks the whole two days before it starts to chip.
This nasty shit she put on my nails was horrendous.
Yes, my nails lasted the two weeks, but it looked completely fake, they were super thick, even after I specifically said 5 times NOT to go heavy on the powder. Just gross.
I ripped them off as soon as I got back.
Now my nails are weak, brittle, dry & cracking.
Regular manicures for me for now on.

See for me, regular gel, like the CND shellac will last 2 weeks and not wreck my nails. And look normal.
This powder stuff was SO thick and fake looking. And it was like having a fake nail glued to my own when i tried to get it off.
Awful.
And by the way, it barely lasted more than a week.

ugh i will never get a powder mani again! I did it once because I wanted the polish to last 2+ weeks...and it almost lasted 2 weeks. But my nails were destroyed!!! So not worth it

I've never heard of this! I get the regular shellac every 3 weeks and it hasn't ruined my nails (and lasts that long without lifting!) Occasionally I'll give it a break for a week and use nailtiques to strengthen them.

Powder gel is a whole other animal- and not in a good way.

because they have to file the nail down to get the gel polish/shellac to stick it def does damage you nails.

Yep! I do shellac and tried the powder gel during the summer. It looked great but killed my nails, and my nails do just fine with regular gel.

Cnd Rescue RX is a miracle worker for damaged nails. It's a keratin treatment for nails. Use it 2x's a day- Amazon sells it.

Gel is the only one that's less damaging, at least that's what an amazing nail tech told me. If you have great nails stick to regular gel with uv light.
Powder gel, acrylics etc will all damage your nails. I just removed my gel mani which I had for a good 3 weeks. My nails are super long (which I hate) and look wonderful
