How long will we wait for Macy's Herald Square Santa without a reservation?
We missed the window to make reservations, and it's not a make or break situation, but we'd like to try to go. If it's super long we'll do other things.

We went today with a reservation. The standby line was at least 2 hours of not more. We waited about 30 minutes with the express pass.

What time of the day were you thinking of going? I bet it's not bad when they first open. I think it's worth doing...but I would probably only wait an hour max. I love that the Santa is authentic looking, the scenery is great, even in the line queue, they allow you to take your own pictures with Santa, and I like the Santaland dated buttons you get.

I have been going for last couple years. I go during week and in morning. There is a lot to see so.you dont really feel the wait. If you want to only see santa that's a different story.

We went one year right at opening and went straight in. I want to say the wait was around 20-30 minutes but there were lots of cute displays and photo opps during the actual wait.

I don't know if you are going to see this but go to see Santa at the Plaza Hotel. It is a much better experience.

Re: How long will we wait for Macy's Herald Square Santa without a reservation?
We just went yesterday. The whole experience including the picture buying took an hour. So we were on line about 45 minutes? We went right at opening at 9am.
Just a tip if you go at opening- we arrived early and noticed people lined up outside the main entrance on 34th street. Since it was 8:30 we walked to see the windows first. When we circled back at 8:45 they had already started letting people in. Lesson learned.
Also, my sister and her family went last Thursday and arrived at about 8:45pm and got through in about 5 minutes.

How long will we wait for Macy's Herald Square Santa without a reservation?
We went yesterday around 6:-00 pm and the wait to get in was about 30 minutes -- once in to see Santa less than another 30. We didn't purchase pictures so not sure how long that takes. I didn't want to do the express pass bc I thought you would not be able to see the décor in Santa land but I overheard that you could see the décor you just couldn't walk through it.

How long will we wait for Macy's Herald Square Santa without a reservation?
2 quick questions: 1. I assume its free - true? 2. Can we bring our own camera and take pictures, or is that frowned upon (to sell us the photo packages)
Thank you

Yes free! They also give each of you a button after you see Santa. You can absolutely use your own camera with Santa. The only place you can't is a professional photo op near some trees in the line.
