Donating and volunteering

Can someone make a list of organizations to donate $ and time to. Anyone know of any places that need volunteers? Thanks!

Donating and volunteering

You can donate to the children in the Foster Care System (search for a local agency and ask about fundraising ideas or mentorship programs)

Donate to the homeless
www.coalitionforthehomeless.org

Donate to the veterans
https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org

Donate time in a Soup Kitchen

Donate time to a retirement home/nursing home for companionship

Donate to Austism Speaks or an organization that had meaning to you.

Donate to the hungry
www.nokidhungry.org

Speak to a local church for their outreach programs

Donate to Domestic Violence
http://nomore.org/donations/

Sponsor an orphan from around the world (just google adoption agencies and most have donation programs)

You can donate to really anything you feel passionate about.

I don't know about donating time, but in addition to the ACLU, you can donate to
-Rescue.org (helps refugees)
-Planned Parenthood, NARAL/NARAL Pro-Choice NY
-Citizens' Climate Lobby
Also, if you can, please consider supporting the Center for American Islamic Relations (CAIR), they can use all the help & respect they can get.

I think if you check with The Ethical Humanist Society of LI & the Unitarian Universalists, they are involved in a lot of social action.
