Please tell me I'm crazy (at home Doppler)
So I have this app on my phone that has allowed me to hear the heartbeat (uses the microphone on my phone as a Doppler). I've been able to hear it consistently and strongly basically every day for months. But today, when I use it, I hear the heartbeat for a second and then it disappears. Every time I move it around the same thing happens. Could it just be that the baby is moving around so moving the heartbeat away (I'm not really feeling the baby yet)?
I'm 20 weeks tomorrow.

I'm a bit over 18 weeks and it doesn't work for me but at the ob the same thing happens. Baby is still small and always squirming around.

I'd say your LO is active and moving around too much for you to hear it.

Well I just tried again and the same thing happened but this time I kept my phone there longer and it faded in and out a couple times so I guess baby is just movin and groovin? But I wonder why this never happened before! I just wish I could feel the baby move, because then I wouldn't be concerned if I couldn't hear the heartbeat, kwim?

I think an app such as that would cause you or any preg person more stress than relief. Put the app down :)

Agreed! Not worth the stress. Your phone isn't exactly a reliable tool for this, so please don't worry! Like a PP said, even the OB had trouble sometimes finding the heartbeat or keeping it steady since the LOs move around so much. I didn't really feel movement at 20 weeks either. Maybe a flutter here or there that very well could have been gas. About 2 weeks later, I started feeling definite movements and felt them more consistently.
ETA: I remember going in for my anatomy scan at 20 weeks and DD was flipping and twirling like a lunatic! The tech was asking if I could feel it and I felt so sad that I couldn't. All in due time!

This is one of the many reasons at home dopplers are not recommended.

Especially one that is an app on a phone. Very very far from a reliable, professional, diagnostic tool and it will only make you worry more and cause you undue stress. I'd just delete that app.

It probably wasn't even working- it was probably all fake anyway. Who knows what you were listening to. I bet if I download it now I can hear the meatballs I just ate for lunch in there!
