There are 3 yes's on the poll so far and I actually find that encouraging, to an extent.
I would rather see a poll for just those who voted for trump to see if there would be any change
Ditto. We have to consider the possibility that people who voted 3rd party or for Clinton would have changed their vote to Trump.
I know, but I didn't want to single people out or turn it into a place that allowed for attacks or where people felt they didn't even want to open the thread.

Actually if I could go back to the primaries I think I might change my vote to Sanders. But in the general election, no because I didn't vote for him.
This is a fascinating response! (Not in a bad way, just an angle I hadn't thought about). Thank you!
I think this may be the better question. I wonder knowing now, if more people would have thrown support behind Sanders, Kasich, or Rubio.

No because I voted for Hillary and I can sleep at night knowing I didn't contribute to the current shitshow we're currently experiencing.
My feeling exactly!

I voted Bernie in the primary and Hillary in the general, so no way would I do anything different.

POLL: If you knew then what you know now, would you have voted differently?
we should put this on family helping families so it gets more traffic and only direct it to those who voted for Trump.

I think anything with my name and the word Trump on there is gonna not be received well ;), but I'm 100% fine with anyone else linking to this post!

Yes! I just going post this. I would have voted in the primaries - I never have. I will from now on.

These are my feelings as well. I would probably change my vote in the primaries but nothing to change after that.

I didnt like or trust HrC and didn't vote for her or Trump.
So now that we know that non voters and third party voters helped elect him, and we see just how bad it is, would you have changed your vote? If you don't feel comfortable answering no worries. Just curious.
It's a fair and interesting question. I've done some reading on that topic and it seems there are different opinions and theories. One piece I read was in the Wall Street journal I recall. I think even the guy who runs 538 says it's not due to 3rd party voters.
I was a huge Bernie fan. I had so much faith in him and he had so much integrity. I was beyond disgusted when I saw what was going on with the DNC. It all just turned me off. In essence, I hope going forward we demand so much more of our candidates.
Living in NY and knowing it would go towards HrC anyway, I didn't feel bad and I wouldn't have changed my vote. If I was elsewhere in the country where it was life or death, I would have voted for her.
This word for word.

I'd be interested to know if 3rd party voters in ny would have voted the same way if they lived in a swing state.

Looking back, I said I would have voted for HRC if I lived in a swing state. But I honestly am not sure what I would have done bc I was totally convinced she was going to win anyway.
Even being in NY, the morning after the election, I couldn't stop crying and kept saying Bernie was right, I should have voted for her.

POLL: If you knew then what you know now, would you have voted differently?
I voted 3rd party, voted for Kasich in the primaries. I could not bring myself to vote for either one, and like a PP said, being that I knew NY would go to HRC anyway, I was fine with my vote. Now if I lived in, say, Michigan or Florida- possibly would have voted for HRC but can't say for sure.

Can't speak for all 3rd party voters but if I lived in a swing state I would not have voted the way I did.

I feel the same. I didn't vote in the primaries, though.
I can't say with 100% certainty I would have voted for Clinton, but I would have put a great deal more thought into my vote.

I voted for Kasich in the primaries. I voted for Hillary in the election. I am honestly not a big Hillary fan, but I thought she was a better option than Trump.

I wouldn't have voted differently... I voted for Clinton.
However, I would have done more - canvassed, worked on a phone bank... something. I definitely regret not doing more to defeat the monster than campaigning for Clinton. I just never in a million years thought he'd win.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's been mathematically proven that third party votes didn't matter. I voted third exactly like you- I knew it wouldn't change the winner in NY but wanted my voice heard.

No, b/c I didn't vote for Trump. HRC was not my first choice and I never thought I would vote for her (I voted Bernie in primaries) but I would've done anything to keep the Orange Monster out of office.
