Re: Book fair money

They usually send out a list of books. I always give $5. The children books that age are around that much. Usually Pete the Cat or something similar.

Re: Book fair money

I think I send in $10
And then she comes home and bytches that she could only buy 2 things. It's pretty pricey.
But she wants to buy stuff other than books too- like erasers, bracelets, etc.
I told her to stick to books and she'll be fine with the $10!

Book fair money

$10 is more than enough. Just tell them to stay away from the hard cover books.

Re: Book fair money

$20

DS loves books, loves to read, and always finds more than one he wants.

i'd rather he spends $20 on books then junk food or video games.

i sent in $20 for my DS, but he needed some new books anyway. in DS's school, they go the first day of book fair and make a list of books they see that they want. they bring home that list, so parents can look it over and decide how much to send in, looks up the books online to kind of tell the kids what ones to buy and all that...
its up to you how much you want to send!

I like that process so much better!
She always comes home with sticker books, activity books, nothing substantial for the money!

I would find out the price range for books. At our school, the Scholastic Book Fair books are pricey. They range from $4 on the low end up to like $20-$25 for the big hardcover Lego books and that type of thing.

I would probably send $20.

Re: Book fair money

Our school does a preview day and the kids write down what they want and how much. The parents then circle which ones they are allowed to buy and send in the correct amount of $.

**Scholastic is now charging the schools sales tax on book fair purchases.

I HATE THE BOOK FAIR Chat Icon

OK, now that I got that out of the way...... Reasoning is bc we can go to the book fair with the kids (NOT a good thing) and my kids always come up to me with the $15 and up books (and more than one) that I know they will never pick up! Now I put $15 in an envelope and that's what they get. No more checkbook!

ETA: I'd much prefer the library!
