Severe Anemia
Hi all. I have a friend who just announced she is PG. She had her routine bloodwork done and they said she is severely anemic and they want her to have IV infusions of iron. Has anyone ever heard of this or done this?
I was anemic for my pregnancies and I just had to take extra iron.

Severe Anemia
I was severely anemiac before during and after my pregnancy. I have been receiving iron infusions for the past 10 years on a somewhat regular basis. It takes about an hour for the infusion and it is weekly (determined by the meds). Really it is not a big deal and can be done in any hematologist/oncologists office. I once went to the hospital infusion center but that was due to an insurance issue.

Thanks for your response. I hadn't heard of that before. Reassuring to know of someone else who had gone through this.
