Universal Pre-K Questions
So I'm trying to fill out the universal pre-k information for Connetquot and it doesn't specify if it's a few days a week or everyday. Does anyone know?
Also, I noticed there are several choices which you need to number 1,2,3,4... some choices state SCOPE (in elementary schools) and others don't (Early Discoveries and starting early/DDI) .... Let's say I choose Early Discoveries.. will it just be daycare and not an acutal Pre-K program?

all universal prek is supposed to be 5 days a week (it can be half day or whole day or whatever but m-f).
i know most universal preks are run the same way but schools are generally better prepared whereas daycare upk's stay a bit more daycare like...

Universal Pre-K Questions
All UPK programs have to follow the state curriculum. In our area, none are in schools - they are all in daycares or private preschools.
I find the one DS 2 is doing in his daycare has a better overall curriculum than the one my son did in a private nursery school two years ago.

Universal Pre-K Questions
My DS is in the UPK program at early discoveries as well as the daycare. He is pulled out of the daycare room for UPK every day for the 2 1/2 hour program. It's a separate room, separate teacher, specific curriculum and very structured. There are several kids in the UPK classroom who do not attend the daycare and are only there for the UPK class. It's 5 days a week

Re: Universal Pre-K Questions
In my district it is 5 days a week for 2 1/2 hours and done in the actual elementary schools.
No way in hell would that work for a working parent so she did pre K in her daycare- but I don't think it was UPK.
It was their own program. I found it to be excellent

We had our daycare transport DS 1 - he had already done their Pre-K and I thought he needed a change.
For DS 2, daycare does it in house now so we just get a price break since we got UPK for the second time.

Yeah LI is not full day for UPK. It's a few hours a day, 5 days a week at least in my district

Re: Universal Pre-K Questions
Thank u so much for ur responses That's great to know about early discoveries bc when I looked online at their sample schedule it was lunch, rest time, etc and that's why I was worried.
As for NYC, it's universal pre-k for all and it's a full day program (I used to work in the city). I am shocked that LI doesn't have universal pre-k for all and u have to pray to get in. Many districts don't even have a lottery...Kindergarten isn't the same as it used to be. They are expected to know SO MUCH! I'm over here praying that she gets into the lottery. Please wish me luck

Universal Pre-K Questions
It's 5 days a week in Connetquot. My dd goes to one of the SCOPE locations and we've been very happy with it. Feel free to fm me if u have any questions. We also went on a tour of Early Discoveries before we made our choice, and they seemed great too. It was just a matter of which school was closer for us. Plus we like that she will already be used to the elementary school when she starts K next year.
