Question for moms of late preterm babies (36 weeks)
My daughter is now 4 months old. She was born a few weeks early at 36 weeks but at her monthly well check ups, my ped does not use adjusted age for her. My question is, did you find your late preterm babies hit the appropriate milestones on time for their actual age? Or was it more around their adjusted age?
My DD is a super mellow baby. She smiles a ton and makes great eye contact but doesn't really babble or coo and hasn't rolled over yet. At her 4 month visit my doc didn't seem super concerned but I'm wondering if I should be worried or if I need to maybe get her hearing checked again since she's so quiet. My son babbled and cooed a ton at this age but he was born full term.

Re: Question for moms of late preterm babies (36 weeks)
My baby was also just over 36 weeks. At 9 weeks now I have heard some coos. It's not a lot but I do hear a few a day at this point. However, my other child was also a 36 weaker and was much more quiet than this one, and less active. I just think they can all vary so much. But I do understand, it's always a worry. I am worried about other things right now too and never know what the early delivery could effect.

Question for moms of late preterm babies (36 weeks)
Aside from growth since she was also iugr, our ped didn't really adjust with my 35 weeker. However, when she wasn't meeting a milestone he would say give her a few extra weeks. My full term older one didn't coo much at that age and I started to wonder. Fast forward a few months and she was a hyper verbal, early talker.
Back to my preemie, she was screened by a few extra agencies to make sure she was on track. At 6 months adjusted my ped and the neonatoligist weren't too concerned that she wasn't rolling but her public health nurse immediately recommended an EI evaluation and she did qualify. Once she started PT she caught up amazingly fast. She's a little over 2 now and is on track in all areas.

Question for moms of late preterm babies (36 weeks)
My ds was born at 37 weeks and he is not considered preterm. He always hit or was ahead of major milestones.

Question for moms of late preterm babies (36 weeks)
My twins were born exactly 36 weeks. They are 11 weeks both coo, follow sounds, make eye contact, socially smile in respond to us smile, and both have rolled over already. My one son does have PT during assessment they used adjusted and chronological age. My doctor uses chronological age. I heard they have until 2 though to catch up! I wouldn't worry every baby is different!!
