Induction
If you were induced did you have positive experience or negative? Seems like I've heard lots of horror stories about how long it takes and am trying to decide if I should just wait it out or schedule the induction.

Induction
There definitely are a lot of horror stories - I was dreading getting induced with my first. I tried everything to get it going. And of course, like so many first pregnancies, I went past my due date. I was ultimately induced at 40+2 for high BP. Once I was admitted, I was given cervadil at 3 am. At 9 am my doctor came to visit and took the cervadil out. This is not common practice for the hospital, but common practice for my doctor apparently. At that point they also broke my water and started me on Pitocin. My son was born at 4 pm after an hour of pushing. The Pitocin + epidural really got me progressing fast. I was shocked at how good of an experience I had. But I honestly feel like it's a crapshoot. Best of luck to you :)!

Re: Induction
I had a very successful induction with cervadil at 41 weeks, 1 day. They said it wouldn't even work until 12 hours later (if at all), but I started contracting within a couple of hours and my water broke on its own about 6 hours after they put it in. The cervadil came out with the water and I delivered my DD before the 12 hour mark.

Induction
I was just induced with cervadil and pitocin. I also started contracting within a couple hours of the cervadil. My issue was with the cervadil removal. It took them 3 tries to get it out, and it was super painful when they went searching for it, to the point where my husband made the PA who was doing it get a doctor after the second try, because I was writhing in pain. Then they started the pitocin, and I was able to get an epidural. I ended up needing a c section, but that's because I never dilated enough and the baby didn't drop enough.

Re: Induction
I was successful with #1 but not with #2, ended up with a c-section. However I just wanted her out (heart rate was dropping and I felt the need to push although I was only 5cm) Both times I experienced contractions from hell.

Induction
I had a really successful induction with my daughter. She was born almost exactly 24 hours after it began. Kind of hoping to have an induction this go-round too!

Re: Induction
I was induced for medical reasons at 38 weeks with my first. I never progressed past 4-5 cm and had a c-section after about 24 hours. Based on DS's position and having a narrow pelvis, my doctor told me afterwards that I would've ended up with a c-section no matter what. I wasn't induced with my second, but my labor was completely different. It's impossible to predict how your labor will go, but you should talk to your doctor about why you would or wouldn't be a good candidate for an induction. Good luck!

Re: Induction
I had a wonderful induction experience.
Induced at 40w3d due to low fluid. I was 100% effaced and 2 cm dilated. My induction started at 11:00 AM with a foley catheter followed by pitocin. DD arrived at 5:16 PM.
It was so nice checking calmly into the hospital and getting settled, having a big breakfast before going in (at the advice of my OB), watching TV in relative comfort while the foley catheter was in. The pitocin induced contractions came on quickly and strongly, but I progressed so fast that I got an epidural and by the time it kicked in, it was time to push!

Re: Induction
I had two successful inductions as well. The first one took like 12 hours total. The second one took a bit longer because he was so big and his shoulder got stuck, but it all turned out great!

Induction
I was induced with both kids and they went smoothly. I was able to deliver both vaginally. I was a nervous wreck also bc I've heard some horror stories, but everything turned out fine.

Re: Induction
I had a great induction. Cervidil inserted and baby born 8.5 hours later. Pushed for maybe 15 minutes. The nurses told me I must've had the "super cervidil" and apparently I was the talk of the maternity floor. I never even got put into a delivery bed...I delivered on my antepartum bed and was pushing in the hallway as they were scrambling to transfer me from antepartum to delivery!

Re: Induction
I was induced with my first & it went fine, though it was a relatively long (19 hour start to finish w/ cytotec & pitocin) & rough labor, in the end I pushed about half hour to get him out. Not terrible. Though my other, non-induced labors & deliveries were faster & easier (although that's probably also due more to the fact that it wasn't my first baby).

Induction
Mine was great, but my doctor said he was OK with doing it based on how dilated/effaced I was and the station DD was at. I didn't need cervadil because of it, and was able to go straight to pitocin. I went in at around 530am, pitocin was in by 7/730, and I was pushing at 3:20. DD was born 3 pushes later!
I think that if your baby is still high, or if you haven't dilated enough, it might be a bad idea. If you doctor brings it up to you, then it's because he/she thinks it will be a successful induction

Agreed! That's why I mentioned how effaced/dilated I was. My OB said I was a good candidate for induction for these reasons.

Re: Induction
I was induced a few days early with my 2nd and it was successful.
I had 2 rounds of cervadil and then Pitocin.
My advice unless the baby or you is in distress try and hold out before a C-section.
My 1st I went into labor on my own 10 days late. I stopped progressing in the hospital and I was on low dose of Pitocin. I had my epi and I was happy. Dr said I was not progressing and mentioned a C-section. I mentioned the Pitocin was just increased and told him to come back in an hour. An hour later I was ready to deliver. Don't let them rush you into anything if all is well.
