Upstate Ranches for a summer vacation
We have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and trying to decide last minute on a ranch-like little vacation in August for a few weekdays. We've never done something like this and wanted to try something new. I've been looking into Ridin Hy but was just told about Rocking Horse. Any input on these two or another location similar to these? Thanks!!

I've been to Rocking Horse Ranch (granted it was like 16 years ago....) but it was a great time. everyone was having a lot of fun. I loved the horseback riding a lot, there were also baseball games and scavenger hunts and sing-a-longs. There is a pool of course. I never heard of the other place you mentioned so I can't compare.

Personally, I love Riding Hy Ranch. I haven't been to Rocking Horse though.

Ditto. And it looks like they've updated it really nicely. I can't wait to take DD when she's old enough!

Re: Upstate Ranches for a summer vacation
My friend just came back from Rocking Horse ranch with her girls (5 and 3). She cannot stop raving about it. She said the kids (and her and her husband) all had a blast.

I've never been to a ranch before, but have been to Rocking Horse. And I loved it. We all did. But we like that resort feeling, so it was worth it. The horse riding was the cherry on top.

Upstate Ranches for a summer vacation
My girl scout troop used to have an end of the year trip to Pinegrove every summer. Looking back it was kind of a dump but we had a blast.
I just looked at the prices and it's WAY cheaper than Rocking Horse, but it may very well still be a dump!

Upstate Ranches for a summer vacation
We just got back from Rocking Horse and had a great time. The kids club was enjoyed by both children and gave us a little break. Its expensive and the rooms have a mildew esqe smell. That's the only thing that would prevent me from returning.

Rocking Horse Ranch is amazing! We are going again this summer for the 3rd time. It is expensive but worth every penny.

Upstate Ranches for a summer vacation
We go to Rocking Horse Ranch each winter to ski/snowtube etc. It's a blast! Like a cruise on land. When you figure out the price for each of those activities, it's actually a decent value. Now I personally wouldn't go in the Summer...doesn't seem like as much to do, and I personally don't even like horseback riding lol

We going to rocking horse ranch every winter. It is expensive but you have to also realize everything is covered. 3 meals, activities and tips!! I know in the winter there are no additional costs unless you use the daycare.
