Any tips for avoiding night time eating?
I do so well on my "lifestyle change" all day but when I sit to relax at night, I just snack the whole friggan time and can't stop. I should just go to bed but my DH goes to bed really early so then I can't watch TV or anything. I get home from work late and by the time I'm done doing what I have to do and I can sit and unwind, he's already in bed and I'm not ready to go to bed. What's your best tip?

Make a cup of unsweetened tea to sip on while you read a good book or magazine. That always helps me wind down, and you feel like you are having "something," but it's calorie free. Herbal tea is not really caffeinated, if that's a concern.

This always helps me. Once I brush my teeth, I only have water after that.
Sometimes if I feel like a snack, I'll make a cup of decaf coffee instead and that helps tremendously as well.

Drink water, brush teeth or have a healthy snack if I'm really hungry.

I usually have chamomile tea in the evening. If I really need something then I'll have a tablespoon or two of peanut butter.

Re: Any tips for avoiding night time eating?
What worked for me is to go to bed! There is a huge connection with emotional eating for me and when i "relax" after 9pm and then feel hungry it really means i am tired. I just go to bed instead of eating!
Tea is also great and just do not go into the kitchen!

def agree with brushing your teeth, the minty taste makes everything taste gross
if you really need a snack have something healthy like an apple sometimes I "need" something and I'll suck on a blow pop :) it takes a bit to eat and then you have the gum to chew

Re: Any tips for avoiding night time eating?
I allow myself a dessert or snack every night. Without it, I could never stick to this
I have halo top ice cream (1 serving) in a cone and eat it so damn slow lol sometimes I'll have it In a bowl w some PB2 and a scoop of cool whip Or I'll make air popped pop corn with some spray butter and ranch or cheddar flavoring sprinkled on top. I throw a few almonds in there as well. I eat that really slow too.
Also, I just go to bed early if I find myself looking for more.
I feel like having that planned night time snack stops me from just constantly grazing.

Re: Any tips for avoiding night time eating?
So I still struggle with this but what I do is I drink a full cup of water first. I tell myself... maybe you're just thirsty. If you're still hungry after this cup of water and waiting 15 minutes, then snack.. but honestly, usually I forget about it. LOL.

THanks for all of the tips! The blow pop tip may just solve the problem. Or any of them really. Or gluing my mouth shut. Thanks ladies!

FYI, there's like 60-80 calories and 13-15g of processed sugar in a blow pop (if I'm remembering correctly), you're better off eating!
