Any tips on getting my dog to STOP eating food off the table
My dog has a bad habit of taking food off the table, if we turn our backs for a second
I even found her once on TOP of my table eating the food
she is 6 years old
thanks

Re: Any tips on getting my dog to STOP eating food off the table
we have always used the stern "NO!!" if hershey even SNIFFS the table while we are eating.... after a stern NO! we direct him to his bed or a far away area and have him sit... if he gets up, we go right over to him and say "SIT" very sternly
if he sits the whole time we are eating in the area, he gets a treat and we say "good sitting, good boy"
we find its always a good thing to say what you are proud of them for when you give them a treat, not just "good boy"
like, when we were teaching hershey how to use the doggie door we would say "good doggie door, good boy" sounds weird but it worked for us (and hershey!)

Re: Any tips on getting my dog to STOP eating food off the table
I feel your pain. My dog does the same thing. She won't do it if I'm in the room, only if I leave.. even for a minute.
She once jumped on the counter and ate 9 pancakes I had leftover on a plate on the stove! (she's little too, only 24 lbs) She also jumped ON the table on christmas and ate half the plate of cookies my mom slaved over before we caught her.
If you find a solution, please let me know too!!

We shake a can of coins at Dallas. It's mean, but he's deathly afraid of them. I also always give him scraps in his dog bowl because I want to enforce that if he sits like a gentleman at his dish he will be rewarded.
