Dr. Braverman
Not sure where to post this.
5 weeks ago I had a stillborn. My first baby. I never had trouble conceiving. never had a miscarriage. we dont know the full results yet-but my placenta had blood clots on it.
i was referred to dr.braverman by 5 different people i know. the only thing? they've all had recurrent losses, i have had none.
the reason WHY i want to go to him is bc of the extensive immune testing. i have a feeling i do have some sort of immune/blood clotting disorder.
his fee is 4350. that what is stopping me.
please give me your feedback on him-good or bad, you can PM me as well.
thanks

I am so so sorry. So unfair. How far along were you? Your OB should be able to order the recurrent loss panel to start off with. I did that and it was about 17 tubes of blood. I've never been to Braverman due to cost. Some ladies on here have so hopefully they chime in. I think a lot of the ladies who were here years ago used him so hopefully they check in here and there. Also use the search feature to search his name. There is also Kofinas a perinatologist in Long Island who some of the girls use for testing and pregnancy management. I believe he takes insurance and out of network benefits. Again I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. I absolutely hate that Braverman doesn't work with most insurances. I looked into him for recurrent loss and he was just too expensive especially if you do end up pregnant with him. My husband's coworker suggested Dr. Kofinas who is a MFM that specializes in loss. I can not suggest him enough. He works with your insurance (never paid more than $30 a visit) and does all the same test as Braverman. He will monitor you very closely for your entire pregnancy. I pretty sure Braverman doesn't monitor you after 12 or so weeks. His sono machines are extremely hi-tech. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I am so sorry for your loss.
Dr. Alex Kofinas is a perinatologist (MFM) who has an office on LI and another inside Methodist hospital in Brooklyn. If you have out-of-network benefits, he'll accept whatever your insurance pays him, plus a fee for each visit. I think he determines the fee based upon the insurance you have (mine was $50).

I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't even imagine how horrible that was for you.
There is a FB group with a bunch of ladies who are very helpful. They all set Braverman. FM beneathmywing she'll be able to add you to the group.

So very sorry for your loss. . I am a current patient of Dr. B. His prices are very expensive, so far without success for me. He is thorough and spends time with each patient. I have never felt rushed and he will answer every question you have. That being said, his prices can be just the beginning of the money. The immune meds he prescribes are often not covered either and add up fast. So far I have done one IVF retrieval and 2 FETs. If you can get pregnant on your own, Kofinas as recommended above may be a good place to start. Unfortunately I need the help getting and staying pregnant and Dr. B is the 3rd practice I've been with so I felt I had no other options at this point so i've been forking over the money.
He orders immune work through a lab called Reprosource and that may also be out of network for you so there's the expense of that each time too.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. As mentioned above, there is a FB group called "Braverman's Hopefuls" for patients of Dr. B.
If you FM me your e-mail, I can email you his whole pricing list if you want to see it.

Re: Dr. Braverman
I saw Dr. Braverman because after I had my son I developed an autoimmune disease and kept having miscarriages. I got pregnant with IVF and saw him until 12 weeks. Then I went to Dr. kofinas who I saw every 2 weeks through the rest of my pregnancy. I'd say if you can get pregnant on your own see Dr. kofinas. They did very detailed sonos on me every time and he would've definitely caught on to anything going wrong with my pregnancy. He also did his own immune panel on me. I have a healthy 9 month old baby girl. I also saw Dr Pilliteri in Deer Park as my high risk OB. He's wonderful and works closely with Dr Kofinas. They'd call each other when I had an appointment with one of them to keep the other informed on my pregnancy.

Re: Dr. Braverman
Both Dr. Braverman and Dr. Kofinas are the best. I used Dr. Braverman for IVF and got pregnant during the first cycle with him (I had a failed IVF with LI-IVF) and then transferred to Dr. Kofinas to monitor the pregnancy around 8 or 9 weeks. They are both amazing and worth the money imo.

Re: Dr. Braverman
Please go see Dr. Alex Kofinas. He is a miracle worked and after 4 years filled with losses and failed IVF's, he gave us our daughter. He's the best there is.
I would steer clear of Braverman. FM me for details.

Which autoimmune disease did you have?
Thanks for all the info. Heard about Kofinas as well.

Re: Dr. Braverman
I have Crohn's disease. I had a miscarriage when the disease was active and another one after I had surgery and I wasn't having flares. Dr. Braverman had me on prednisone to prevent my immune system from attacking the baby and I was on Lovenox because I had thrombophilia when pregnant. QUOTE]Posted by LovesDogs11
