Twins drown in parents pool
This is miutes from my house and I have two friends who live in that neighborhood. So upsetting.
They just moved in not even a month ago. The boys were autistic and snuck out while their mom was sleeping. There's also a 5 year old son.

Twins drown in parents pool
I'm a volly FF and have been following this story all morning. I cant wait to get home tonight and hug DS until I cant anymore.
Those first responders did everything they could. They had MULTIPLE police escorts and they shut down every road from the house to the hospital so they could get through undisturbed.
I cant imagine how you even move on from something like this... Its just so terrible..

Twins drown in parents pool
So unbelievable sad. Heartbreaking. Prayers for the boys and family. In ground pools scare me. We don't have one but my 2.5 year old recently learned how to open and unlock our back sliding glass door. We are going to have to install some kind of additional lock. Accidents like this only take a minute. Ughhh so sad. Just terrible.

Twins drown in parents pool
This breaks my heart and the some of the comments are sick. This was just a terrible accident. This is one of the reasons my daughter has been in swim lessons since she was very young but even that doesn't make me feel comfortable with her in the pool unsupervised. Kids are ninjas and it only takes a quick second for them to get out.

I always say that Newsday and News 12 should not allow comments on their stories. What purpose do the comments really serve? Nobody cares about your opinion or feelings on the story. They serve no purpose other than to allow hateful losers to spout garbage. It happens ALL the time on these type of stories. It's disgusting.

So heartbreaking! This poor family. The combination of pools and kids scare the crap out of me. If you have a pool and kids, please get gates, padlocks, alarms... Whatever you have to. Layered security. It only takes a second and kids are masterminds at getting into trouble. Prayers for this family.

Twins drown in parents pool
This is one of my biggest fears. We don't have a pool, but my in laws do and it's driving me NUTS that they haven't put up a fence around the pool. They finally put an alarm on the pool. There was an alarm on the backdoor, but they disabled that the first day because it was annoying. My MIL makes my son wear a life jacket when he's outside. They all keep saying he needs to learn how to swim, but I try to explain that even kids who know how to swim can drown.

I totally agree. This is the most unimaginable thing to happen to a parent and a family. The Newsday comments are just pure vile and a platform for people to just pass judgement. Sometimes they close comments for certain articles. I hope they do this time.

So incredibly sad, makes me think of my own twins and just how precious their life is. I can't even imagine. I work in plainview on the other side of the road where this happened and literally plainview and Melville were shut down

This is exactly the reason DH does not want a pool. My heart breaks for the parents.

Twins drown in parents pool
It's so heartbreaking. I can't even imagine what that mother is going through.
We have an above ground pool and I had the opportunity to enroll my 3 year old into ISR lessons which teaches self-rescue swim. Obviously nothing is foolproof but I feel a bit better knowing that in just a couple of weeks, my daughter will be able to know what to do if she ever falls in a pool. I urge anyone with a pool to enroll their child in ISR. It's so worth it.

What is that? More than say Safety Swim? Where do you go?
I just can't get over how many people are hindsight quarterbacks in situations like this. The commentary is appalling. Anyone who has endured a toddler knows how fast things can happen, never mind two! It's so cruel. I just keep thinking of that poor mom and the conversation she had to have with her husband. I don't know how you survive this but I am praying for them and their family.

Beyond terrible, and tragic, soo very sad! But, I can't help to wonder if the outcome would've been different had they put a fence around their pool.
