Need help potty training #2
My 3 year old DS is totally potty trained for pee (#1). About a month ago, at the pool (with a swim diaper on), he told me "I am peeing. So the next day, I took away the diapers and he hasn't worn one since that day...not even at night! BUT -- he is still having trouble getting #2 under control. He has gone on the toilet a handful of times, but I find him usually holding it in, and then a little bit will "escape". We go through anywhere from 3-8 pairs of underwear a day here. When I see him holding it in, I quickly bring him to the toilet, and he sits and sits and sits, but nothing comes out. I've offered him all kinds of rewards, tried being sad about his "accidents", tried being upset, tried being angry, tried being understanding, tried not giving it any attention, but nothing is helping. Any suggestions...things that worked for you...I'm really like a prisoner here. I don't go anywhere for fear of him needing to go while we're out. I do always bring a change of clothes, but still...

Re: Need help potty training #2
not sure if this would be considered the right way to handle it but this is what we did for ds who had the same exact issue... Instead of dealing with the mess or having ds be uncomfortable, when he needed to poop he would ask for a pullup and would go in the pullup. Finally, he decided one day he decided he was ready to get rid of pullups and poop on the potty all the time, and that was it. We tried countless bribes and rewards, but for DS it was just him deciding he was ready
The pediatrician said to give him a laxative (or prunes, etc) something to help him go...but i couldnt do that. I knew he needed to go he was just uncomfortable on the toilet for whatever reason.
