Not family but friends - how often do you cook / entertain friends in your home?

Every other week or so. We do taco night, barbecue or take out. Everyone chips in for something so it doesn't cost us extra to host.

Once a year tops .
I got tired of the planning, cleaning, shopping, cooking, buying booze, serving and cleaning up.
Too stressful after working all week.
I only want to spend my only 2 days a week off with my dh, dd and my family like parents /sister/ nephews .
And as I have gotten older I have gotten more and more anti social. I know it's awful but when people are over I just want them to leave so I don't have to be "on" anymore and can go put my sweats on, put my hair up and go relax on the couch

I have friends over probably once a month or so, but I have family over a lot too so it feels like I'm always hosting something. But I do love it.

Maybe once a year... I have a small place and can't stand entertaining. This may or may not sound crazy but I feel like my home is my quiet place... my place to unwind... and having people over just makes it crazy. For me at least.

Almost never. I legit hate hosting anything. We will do holidays and birthdays but that's it. It's too streasful

Maybe 3 times a year. Just have not had the time to plan, shop, clean and cook for a get together.
I'd rather go out.

We usually have friends over more in the summer so we can hang out outside. And it's not really for dinner, more for drinks/snacks at night.

I like hosting the summer holidays (memorial day, 4th of july, labor day), so that's when we invite family and friends.

Not often

It's more over the summer. This summer we've been "hosting" at our marina and going out on the boat every Sunday with friends. A lot easier that's for sure lol

I would say we have people over maybe around six times per year; it's not necessarily for a formal dinner though.

I do enjoy hosting, but some of our close friends are allergic to cats. We have cats, so that precludes us from hosting as much as we would like to.

1-4x per year. because i host so many holidays for family and to me it just becomes too much.

Maybe once a year tops. With all of us having kids, we either do a girls night OUT, or if it's with all the families, at either a kiddie place or the friends of the group that have the bigger houses.

ETA: our parents all live locally, and they are over at least once weekly for dinner, and we do some holidays. So yeah we entertain, just not with friends.

Not too often, like maybe once a year, if even that much. I'd like to be able to do it more often, but my house is so small and it's so exhausting preparing for guests with two little ones pulling the house apart.

Another part to this question is that if you rarely host due to space issues or the fact that you really don't enjoy it do you then feel guilty when others invite you to their homes for dinner?

I feel like we have people over all the time but it's our kids friends (our oldest is 7, our middle guy is 3- the friends are 2 other 7 year olds and their siblings, 5 and 3) and their parents; We're all friends and everything is pretty low key- hamburgers hot dogs steaks salads veggies in the summer or we order takeout. Or it's our family. Kids always play way past their bedtimes and the adults all hang out and bs

And we host Christmas and midnight dinner on Easter. For the holidays we get help from our parents and also cater some of the food.

My kids are little. I host family probably once a month or so, but it's always super informal bc I don't have a dining room. Friends not since before kids? So 3 years? Again, I don't have a dining room though. If I did, I would love to host on a regular basis. Once we redo our home, I've already told dh I hope to host dinners every 2-3 weeks since the kids will be a bit older.

I have Christmas every year. We have at least 2 BBQs every year- friends, not family. We have a big yard and a tiny house so I prefer summer entertaining.

Probably once a month. We hosted 5 families today.

We go out to dinner with friends probably once a week to a restaurant.
