Kindergarten holy s#$@ snack help
Im having issues with what to put his snack in. Do I put the juice box and snack in a ziploc bag or an extra lunch box. I think it means to just put the snack in an separate bag. My son has the last lunch of the day and will have snack in the morning.

Re: Kindergarten holy s#$@ snack help
I put snack in a brown paper bag and write snack and child's name on it. Lunch is in a separate bag or lunchbox.

Lunch goes in a standard lunchbox
I put snack in the front zipper pouch of the backpack. I usually pack water and something that doesn't need to be kept cool (an apple, granola bar, pretzels, clementine)

So if you're sending water for snack and lunch you would need to send two separate water bottles?

I worry his backpack will weigh more than him with all his provisions.... lol I am going to ask at open school night if he can just refill his camelback instead of packing 2 drinks

I just send one thermos full of water- she uses it for lunch and snack- she isn't a big drinker though

Put the snack in a ziploc bag and label it snack. You can put it right in the lunch box or back pack

Snack and a drink go in one bag (brown bag, ziplock, etc...) Lunch goes in a lunchbox.
I send in her Contigo water bottle in my DD's lunchbox and they can keep it on their desk throughout the day too. And I send in one of those small bottled waters (I think they're 8oz) with her snack.

I was going to do a ziploc bag and then I was wondering if that was ok. Im only giving him goldfish, pretzels, maybe a container of strawberries with a juice box. I have a metal lunchbox with toy story on it or a thomas one but I didnt know if that was ok.

Re: Kindergarten holy s#$@ snack help
I think the teacher means to pack it all separately from their lunch. I bought my kindergarteners this bag last year for their snacks and i bought new ones this year for 1st grade and for my youngest who starts kindergarten tomorrow. I like to send them with snacks that i know will hold them over since Kindergarten has a late lunch. They get a juicebox or water for snack. Whichever they don't get for snack they get for lunch. Then to eat they get yogurt, cheese, grapes and crackers. Or my daughter likes cottage cheese so she gets that with a cheese stick and strawberries. Or hummus and pretzels or carrot sticks and a fruit on the side.

I put his snack in an oversized sandwich container and lunch in the backpack. They want them separate so it is easier for the students to unpack for the day. In his snack box, I can fit a juice box, danimals smoothie, straw, small ziploc bag of goldfish, squeeze fruit, and a small bag of fruit snacks. I have a boy - he needs a lot of snacks. You should see his lunch box.

This is what I do as well.
They just don't want you to pack snack in the main lunchbox so they have a snack.

For my older son I did - but, he's a huge water drinker.
For my younger son, I'm only sending in 1 since he doesn't finish it and told me he can go to the water fountain if he's thirsty.
I also found out today I need to pack his snack in his lunchbox (opposite of what DS 1's K teacher told us)...

I have never put snack in a separate bag - even in pre-school. He never ate his lunch at snack time, etc. I just put everything all together in his lunchbox.

You just have to pack it separately so when they put the lunch boxes in the lunch bin to send to the cafeteria, the snack stays behind in the classroom.

I did this til my child ate a salami sandwich (full man sized, no cute cutouts) for snack!!! I got an email from the teacher saying my kid had no lunch!!!!!
Now, ziplock sandwich bags for snacks and labeled snack1 and snack2. A lunch box for lunch. Water bottle is shared.

Kindergarten holy s#$@ snack help
i think they just want to make sure the kids don't eat their lunch at snack time. AND i know at my son's school since they eat snack in the classroom, that has to be peanut free-- but lunch doesn't ( they have peanut free tables at lunch for the allergy kids). SOOO they also want to make sure the kids don't eat PB&J in the classroom. I got lucky and my son picked out a BB-8 lunch box ( from Star Wars) so it had 2 separate sections- so in kindergarten, I would put his snack in the top section, and his lunch in the big section. So maybe look for a lunchbox like that, with 2 sections, so you could put snack in one... I also don't pack a drink to go with his snack-- i just pack his Contigo water bottle and he drinks out of that all day, and he can refill it from the water fountain

Re: Kindergarten holy s#$@ snack help
As a former kindergarten teacher, I told parents to pack snack separately from lunch and to label it with child's name and "Snack." Snacks went in their cubbies and lunchboxes with their lunch went in a different area of the room. Usually parents just put the snack in a ZipLoc or brown bag.
If the teacher asked for them to be packed separately, please don't just put it in the child's lunchbox (even if you have it labeled as a snack). I know it sounds neurotic or silly but the beginning of K is a CRAZY time. I promise the teacher isn't doing it to be a PITA, but rather to help the students learn routines and make things run as smoothly as possible .

I always did snack in a separate brown bag labeled with their name. Cleanup is just easier, pick it all up and throw it out!
