Hurricane Jose
Antigua and Barbados have a Hurricane Watch now for Hurricane Jose. It's not as powerful as Irma, but immediately on the back of Irma, everything is already destroyed. This is going to cause unbelievable havoc.

Hurricane Jose
This is really $******. I'm still trying to hear from a lot of friends on St. John and St. Thomas. The pictures are starting to roll in - absolutely horrifying the damage that was done, not so much from flooding, but the winds that ripped buildings apart, even ones made of concrete. These islands that rely on tourism for income, it is going to take quite a while for them to recover. St. John is my second home, and my heart is just breaking.

Re: Hurricane Jose
It's so heartbreaking....I love St. John and we were on Turks and Caicos a few weeks ago and LOVE it there and now they are getting hammered.
Praying for safety for those on the islands and that Jose loses steam

Hurricane Jose
So insane. We were thinking of these islands for feb break vacation. I'm not sure if anything will be recovered by then. It's such a shame. These pictures are incredible and heart breaking.

Re: Hurricane Jose
Heard from five of our family friends : 1 lost the roof of her house but she, her children and grandkids are ok. 1 had some water in the house, but no damage. 3 are off island on the mainland.
Still waiting to hear from a handful of others who are on St Thomas / St. John
Absolutely nerve wracking.

Re: Hurricane Jose
We are scheduled to cruise at the end of October. St Maarten and Antigua are on the itinerary. I'm sure both will be changed. It's terrible what is happening there.

Re: Hurricane Jose
This one is one to watch as well. I read that it is circulating for a while but then can aim right for the east coast.

Re: Hurricane Jose
They are looking at this one now but I wouldn't panic just yet. Its still to far away for them to know whats going to happen.
With that said if you plan on stocking up if it does come this will probably be the weekend to do it

Re: Hurricane Jose
From Tri-State Weather:
Hurricane Jose: Models are not encouraging. The ridge over the western Atlantic does not want to let Jose escape out in the open Atlantic. What does this mean? Well, it means we need to watch Jose closely. A strong tropical storm, or weak hurricane is something we do not need up here. Now, I still think it remains off our shore (not as high confident as I was a couple of days before). But and this is a big but, If the storm becomes extra tropical and the winds expand away from the core of the storm and the storm is very close well, it is not a good thing. Side note: many tree/power workers are down south and not here! Anyway there are many days away (mid week next week) but we need to watch this! The very least Dangerous rip tide, beach erosion is likely. Do we get Heavy rain and some damaging winds? That is what worries me and what we need to look out for. What you need to do? Stay tuned to our updates, no need for anything drastic. this is not a "Irma". But, as you see with Sandy a much weaker storm can cause major damage.

Re: Hurricane Jose
Latest from News 12:
Watching hurricane Jose. Winds may get up to 90mph south of long island off north carolina coast, but will weaken as storm enters cold waters. You need 27 degrees Celsius to maintain a tropical storm. Potential for coastal flooding, beach erosion, rain and gusty winds. Think very strong Nor 'Easter . If storm tracks inside 70 west longitude and 40 north latitude conditions will be worse.

Latest:
Watching JOSE, gusty winds developing early Tuesday morning. Tuesday into WEDNESDAY gusty winds, periods of rain, beach erosion and coastal flooding. Winds could gust 30 to 50 mph. STORM will stay off shore but east end will be closest to storm, they will have strongest winds, heaviest rain. Dangerous ocean conditions, rip currents and waves 5 to 10 feet. New moon on wednesday, watching coastal flooding especially during high tides. Think very strong Nor'easter. Maps and forecast on longisland.news12.com/weather
