Which tablet do you have for your kids?
My son has an iPod touch - it's the size of a phone, so it's not tablet sized. I like that it's portable (more so than a larger tablet) and that's it's Apple so it works well with apps.

My kids both have ipod touches. They like that they are similar to smart phones. Its also convenient that they have a locator through apple for when they misplace them.

A samsung galaxy tab I like that it was cheap. I don't really care about anything else. She already broke one. She drops it all the time. Gets juice and sticky fingers all over it. I wasn't spending upwards of $600 on an ipad for her to watch you tube videos of toys being unwrapped.

Same here. I tend towards the cheaper devices that still have good reviews on Amazon. DC don't know the difference, and they work exactly the same as the $$ devices.
When I first started getting devices, I thought "bigger is better", so I got a 7" and a 10". The 10" tablet was hardly used. DC and DW preferred the 7". Since they are more portable, cheaper, and everyone likes them better, that's the size I get from now on. The tablets are getting less usage now that everyone has a smart phone, so that's also something to think about. DD has a "phone" without cell service, so it's essentially a tiny tablet. You can get unactivated phones for under $50.

We have a lot of old things.
They prefer my father in law's old broken iPhone. I may get them iPod touches for Christmas.

Re: Which tablet do you have for your kids?
My kids both have older iphones (with out cell service) and tablets. My older DS is 7 and has a ipad mini, which I like for the find my iphone app and I think Itunes has alot of apps vs the amazon kindle. However you have limited space for movies (dep on how many gigs are available)
My younger DS is 3 and we purchased a Amazon Kindle recently for $30. I like the Kindle bc you can add downloaded movies via mini SD card and it has 2 profiles one for me and one for DS which allows you to put restrictions on it.

We have the Kindle Fire. I love that it comes with 1 year free of the Kindle Free time for kids which is unlimited apps, books, videos and not worry about DD accidentally purchasing anything. I love the kid proof case and 2 year no questions asked replacement warranty.
I dislike the memory. You can buy a micro SD card to expand it, but if the kindle gets too full memory it will stop the WIFI signal.

We just bought 2 iPads for the family to share before we took a road trip. They always played with my really old one and finally broke the screen.

That's what DS is using now but I don't like the size for his eyes.
