Inclusion class question note to which teacher
My DS started kindergarten and is an inclusion class with two teachers. He has an IEP due to OT, PT and no other diagnosis. My question is who do I e-mail or send in notes to. I know he has one main teacher and one special ed teacher. Today the special ed teacher called me to tell me how great he has been. The head teacher sent out a note about the plant sale so I emailed her back a quick question about that. Should I stick to just communicating with one teacher or does it matter. I also sent an email to both at the same time about something. Im not sure if Im communicating correctly and if going to one for one thing and the other for others is correct. Im trying to not run to the teachers every time something happens, but today he had an accident because he said he was not allowed to use the bathroom during learning time. I didnt notice till he got home and his pants were wet. He said this happened during lunch which means he was sitting in wet clothes the rest of the afternoon (he was wearing dark shorts so no one would have noticed). Is this something I should email the teacher about? I dont want to be that pain in the neck parent who once was a teacher and is constantly hounding the teachers. Thanks so much!

Re: Inclusion class question note to which teacher
My son is in ICT. I communicate with both teachers. Email is great because everyone sees it and is on the same page. Plus in case one is out the other knows what is going on. They both communicate with me about different things similar to yours. I always reply to both even if it’s something silly like he forgot his paper at school or something.
No way about the wet shorts! Absolutely email them and let them know! Learning time is during lunch? I’ve never heard of a child (especially kindergarteners) not being allowed to use the bathroom during any time. As we know, they sometimes wait till the very last second (and sometimes that’s too late). If he’s not being allowed to go during lunch, the teachers need to know that so they can let the other adults know. It’s inportant they be aware so they can keep an eye out.
You’re not a pain in the neck momma, you’re a kindergarten momma!!! I remember I said that to my son’s teacher last year (in k) about being annoying. LOL. She was like no, thank you for being involved. I said of course. She said you would be surprised how many parents don’t respond to her notes or don’t check their kids folders and notices keep getting sent back in the folder.

Inclusion class question note to which teacher
You can email one and cc the other. If he's on the SE side, email the SE teacher and cc the GE teacher. Don't look at them as separate teachers. They really are a team. I've heard stories where some parents don't acknowledge the other teacher.
Wet shorts issue...leave it. Nothing anyone can do about it now. But teach him to tell a teacher when something like that happens. It's a good lesson in self advocating which they do need to learn at a young age.

Inclusion class question note to which teacher
I would email both teachers. As for the toileting, I would not mention it unless it becomes a problem. My son had major toileting issues in K, to the point that he needed an aide for it. Kids wait. I am certain that he would have been allowed to go to the bathroom had he asked. He may have been engrossed in the activity or heard something that he misinterpreted. I would discuss with him to tell the teacher as soon as he needs to go to the bathroom, so that no more accidents occur. If it is continuously happening for a few more weeks, then I would bring it up to the teacher.
