Do non agitator washing machines clean as well as regular washing machines?
The reviews contradict the claims of sale people in appliance stores. Energy efficiency is secondary to cleaning action and if anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it. Also, can anyone tell me which appliance store offers the best warranty when it comes to possible abuse of machine rather than regular wear and tear?

No idea about warranties, but I am very happy with my top load no agitator machine. Note that you make a hole with your hand so the clothing conforms to the edge, you don't just stuff the machine full. I also leave the top open after washing for an hour. I know some front load washing machines can smell and have mold issues, so I would look into that.

We have a Samsung front loader and I wasn't thrilled to hear about mold and smell issues right after buying. I was having regrets and then we were sometimes dealing with odors. We started leaving the door open when not using it and adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the detergent and haven't had any more issues. Clothes get nice and clean which is important with two messy kids.

i hate mine
i just miss the old school clean and water filling to the top...
a lot of times my clothes come out with the deodorant smell on it still .
