Transition to milk.

Any tips? We've tried to mix with formula, blended with fruit, tried to give her cereal and milk and she doesnt want it. She will eat oatmeal ok with water but not milk. She has no issues eating cheese and she loves yogurt.

Also, she doesnt drink a lot of water. We will give it to her in a sippy cup and she will take a sip but then let it dribble out of her mouth.

Any advice

I just started my transition today... needless to say, 1 sip of bottle and my one twin barfed everywhere which isn’t like him. So no advice but I feel your pain!

How old is LO? Depending on the age, I wouldn't be too concerned. We switched at just over a year for DD and she lasted a couple weeks, maybe a month drinking milk regularly. Then didn't want it at all for awhile. Now she's 19 months and drinks it occasionally, but I don't force it. She has a fairly well rounded diet, but she does drink a TON of water.

Transition to milk.

I never gave milk . I just weaned ds and he eats enough cheese/yogurt/etc. No milk.

Once in a blue moon dd (3.5) will have a glass or some in her cereal

DD is almost 5 and never drinks milk. You can keep trying, but as long as they are getting some dairy my ped said its fine

How long have you been trying? I think if you've been trying a few days you should keep at it but if it's been months then maybe it's time to give up.

Now, if your child doesn’t take to milk is it ok? My doctor told me it is a MUST to have 24-32oz daily until age 2. That seems like a lot of milk. My kids eat a yogurt each once a day since 7 months and love the yogurt

Transition to milk.

Slow transition. 1 full week of 75percent formula 25 percent milk, 1 full week 50/50 etc... Worked for both my girls.

24-32oz?! They would start moo-ing!

I think maybe your ped confused formula and milk. That's an insane amount of milk.

I was told no more than 16oz.

Transition to milk.

My daughter drank no milk until she was nearly three years old and now she drinks it a few times a month at most. Her pediatrician doesn’t feel children need milk if they eat a well balanced diet- he did recommend a vitamin D supplement and Tums for a calcium supplement if she was not eating calcium rich foods.
The amount of milk your pediatrician is recommending seems high- if children drink too much milk it can inhibit iron absorption.

We tried this for a week. We only got to the 75/25 but she refuses to drink it. Yesterday MIL got her to drink 1 oz of just milk. Dh called the dr and the nurse told him its ok if she doesnt drink the milk as long as she is getting other sources of dairy. She loves yogurt and cheese so I may just do that.

She still wakes up in the middle of the night for a bottle. Is it ok to still give her formula or is there really no benefit to it?

I read no more than 2 to 3 servings of milk per day.

Our Ped said no more than 16 oz also. DD (21 months) drinks a little at meals, typically, but otherwise drinks water. I would say she typically drinks around 10 oz of milk/day, but sometimes more, sometimes less. Occasionally she asks for milk outside of meals and we do give it to her if she does. Also sometimes she wants water with meals instead of milk. She eats yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, etc., so we're really not worried about it.

Transition to milk.

Hailey and Jillian only drink milk with their cereal. They never drink/drank it from a glass. The Dr said if they are eating cheeze/yogart theres no reason to force them

Re: Transition to milk.

My DS has a cup of warm milk at night about an hour before bed. He likes it and relaxes him. In the morning he'll only have a little bit with his cereal. He's been like this since I transitioned him out of formula. He eats enough dairy that the Ped was not concerned at all. She always said no more than 16oz a day. I never forced him to drink it.

DD1 wouldn’t drink milk. She also never liked drinking from a bottle so I continued to BF her until 16 months and gave her cheese and yogurt every day with water.
After 16 months we continued to do cheese and yogurt daily. She’s 4 now and drinks about 3 ounces in the morning. We tell her it helps the yucky taste of her vitamins.

My DS loves his milk. He needs it every morning or else he is not happy. We slowly transitioned him from formula to straight milk. I would have the formula and add a little tiny bit of milk ... then everyday keep adding a little more milk and less formula. It took a while but he took to it very well. Every child is different so I hope you find whatever works for your DD!

Are you trying the milk in a cup instead of a bottle during the day? That might make all the difference.
And I would drop that middle of the night bottle regardless of formula vs milk. Im sure she is waking up for comfort not hunger at this point. Cut it out an ounce a night until it is gone. Maybe then in the morning she will be hungry and take her milk from a cup.
