Re: Contributing for Class Gift

I always do both - usually 10 for class gift then I give 25 dollar gift card to target. But I will say, sometimes class moms like to out do each other and tend to want to give the "better" gift. It often gets out of control.

Re: Contributing for Class Gift

I did the class gift this year which ended up being significantly less than I would have spent on my own ($50/teacher, 2 teachers). I ended up contributing $40 total. I was asked for less and told we can give more/less, but that was with giving MORE.

I think I gave generous gifts last year, but truthfully it wasn’t to outdo anyone at all. I don’t know or care what other people do. I gave what I could afford and what I felt was appropriate.

I got the email last night for contributing $ to the class gift. The mom was asking for $20.00---half of what she collects is going towards the class parties and the other half is for the teacher's gift.

I found about 1/2 the class contribute to holiday gift and more for the end of year. We collect 15/child and include a note allowing the parent to decide how to split it between 3 teachers.

I will definitely contribute. I'm undecided on the separate teacher gift. I probably will end up sending something.
