Birthday party thank yous
Just wondering if you send written thank yous after you host a birthday party for your child (kiddie party). I’m in the process of doing them now and even making dd (just turned 5) write the salutations and it just occurred to me that we’ve been to about 5 parties so far in the past few months and haven’t received any thank yous. Are written thank yous after a kiddie party a thing of the past? Am I dating myself?

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I still do them but have found its 60/40 with people who don't/do send. Some send the generic pre-printed, some are handwritten. I don't judge or care what anyone else does. I only worry about teaching my kids what I think is the appropriate thing to do.
I saw one mom shame another for not sending thank you cards and that really annoyed me. For someone who was preaching etiquette she came off quite rude.

Birthday party thank yous
We get them occasionally but not often. I always send them and have dd sign her name. I don't think anyone's judging you for sending them!

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I feel that if you don't open the gift in front of the person, you should send a thank you to acknowledge it and so they know you got it. That said, I recently made thank you's in publisher and texted/emailed it to the parents. They were personalized for each person and mentioned the gift they gave. When my son is older, I will have him write them out.

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I've never had a birthday party for my kids yet, but my oldest DS has been to about 15 bday parties for kids in his class over the past year or so & we've received a thank you card from just a few... maybe 3 times.

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I send written ones always. I find I tend to get them from friends kids parties, but not school friends for some reason. The exception is friends parties I’ve givem gifts for but not attended.. I find I don’t get thank you cards for those, even when the gift was sent the week of the party.

Birthday party thank yous
I did them for DD's birthday last month (kiddie party). One of her classmate's moms sent the thank you's into school the next day! I took a week and felt like such a slacker but at least I sent them I guess!

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I don’t I hate Thank yous they go right in the garbage. If t has picture maybe I saved it. You thanked me when I came to the party thanked me agin when I left. I don’t need a thank you especially for a kids party. My kids don’t care and I certainly don’t.
My favor tags however always thank them for coming and thier gift.
I will call or text if someone sends a gift in and they didn’t come to the party.

Birthday party thank yous
I used to hand write but now I send the generic picture cards usually with a note added. . I know 2 people who send out thank yous besides myself. I think it’s a dying art but I will always send them out.

Re: Birthday party thank yous
I try to write them but as the kids get older it's just not happening. They need to take over the writing. One year I put a thank you note on the favor we handed out - that was by far the easiest and even though not as personal, the favor you give the kids IS the thank you for coming to the party so I just attached a "thank you" card to the top. Then I didnt have to worry about writing out cards or postage (I never have stamps on hand).
