I think that as a young kid and teen Kevin has always seemed self centered plus felt a little left out, like they said in the therapy session, jack always looked our for kate and rebecca was always more concerned with Randall, i think he was a nice kid but as he grew up he started distancing himself from the family spending all his time with Sophie and being a football star, and then Jack's death was hopefully a turning point for him to become closer to his siblings,
plus maybe the kid can't act lol
I think he was very bitter about the whole football injury and felt that everyone favored Randall. And he did have Sophie who he spent his time with. I think the turning point was Jack's death. I think that's when he finally made that connection with his siblings.

That's true, they weren't close, but they did mention the story that Randall called Kevin for advice when he met Beth in college--so were they close then?
When they show 8-10 year old Kevin he has a funny personality. (like signing the Weird Al song to distract Rebecca & when he did hid Mr. T impression in the school talent show)
I think teen Kevin is just going though an angsty teen phase. I assume he & Kate get closer after Jack's death, but they were somewhat close already (that's why she wanted to be the one to tell him about Jack.)

This is Us **possible spoilers**
I thought the last 2 episodes were very well done. I like that it wasn't anticlimactic. I think the surprising part was not how he died but that he died alone and how everyone reacted. When he said "you're blocking the TV" I lost it...I just knew! He knew he was worse off than he was letting on, you could see that in his face. Didn't he say "you're blocking the TV" in one of the first episodes of their relationship or marriage? I thought that was VERY clever to go back to that.
We have a few weeks before it comes back, because of the Olympics, but I think they get more into Jack's brother - which is why he spoke about him in the last episode to Randall and Kevin. And the fact that they go into the future too - this show is authentic. Still love it!!!! Thank goodness I bought more wine!

I thought it was kinda sweet how they showed what the wedding would have been like if Jack were still alive. And her brothers' speeches too. I thought all of the foreshadowing was interesting. Who do you think Randall and Tess were crying about in the future?
Can't believe we have to wait till Sept for new episodes!!

Same - I'm not sure who they don't want to see. And I wonder what is going to happen now that Deja destroyed the car?
But, I'm annoyed it will be 6 months until we find out!!!

WHHHHHHHHY do they end this show in MARCH???!!! What happened to TV seasons running from Sept-May. I miss those days!!
It was a decent episode. I'm guessing something went south with Deja, I think she is who they don't want to see.
Curious to see what happens with Toby. I know he's had past issues but he has always been seemingly happy.
Is it fall yet???

I agree -- I dont think they want to see Deja.
And I think Toby having had depression issues in the past... it could just come back. Maybe due to infertility issues?

i'm thinking Deja died and they're going to visit her grave. that or she's in jail. just like Randall said in the "worst case game".
I like that Kevin and Beth's cousin got together.
sounds like Toby's depression came back but it's great that Kate is taking care of him.
i loved the talk between Rebecca and Kate. Kate finally stopped putting the blame on Rebecca and took ownership for her feelings. she really did look beautiful in that dress.

Rebecca and Kate really moved me.
I'd be surprised if they weren't going to see Deja but the idea that maybe she died is interesting. And so sad, but totally possible. That hadn't occurred to me.

I totally thought Older Randall and Tess don't want to see Beth. Beth is always so strong and level-headed - I am thinking something has happened to her and now Randall has to be the strong one.
I love the brother scenes with Kevin and Randall now that they have figured out how to be brothers to each other. Kevin's sober character has so much more to give. Kevin is going to step up and be the man Jack raised him to be.

Yes, it could be Beth, but I also want to know what Annie is up to in the future? We have only seen Tess at work, so it its't odd that Beth & Annie aren't there, but it leave so much open.
I also think Toby is battling depression.
And I want to know what Kevin learned about Jack that made him go to Viet Nam? (they did say that's where the flight was to, right?). Something about Jack's brother?
ugh this damn show.

I thought it was one of the best episdoes in a long time. My 2 favorite parts were when Kate was talking to Jack on the bench with his urn and finally being at peace with him being gone. And the convesation she had with Rebecca before the wedding. "You are not in my way, you are my way". I think thats one of the most beuatiful things a daughter can say to their mother.

Not sure why but I didn't love it. I didn't feel emotional at all for some reason. I'm starting to lose interest and I don't want to! I just find Kate so super annoying. And recently Rebecca too. I hope it comes back and draws my back in!

I balled this episode. I lost my dad when I was young and my wedding day was one of the hardest days for me. I was his baby and missed him a lot on that day. I lost it when Jack was telling Kate about one day when she gets married and he walks her down - I couldn't contain myself. My father used to talk to me about that too.
I'm afraid Deja did something to Beth and that's what Randall is talking about. I loved that Kevin seems happy with Beths cousin. I agree with PPs that Toby seems depressed. His parents were just saying that he was a mess after his divorce. Maybe they are having trouble having a baby now or something else bad going on that put him back into depression.
I absolutely love this show. I love the new Flash Forwards. Just in time with those now that we know how Jack Died, we are all wondering about what's going on in the future. Really good writing. Love love love it!

My question is where did the picture come from? In the episode when we first saw that picture it was in the garage of the house. And they seemed to have lost everything in the fire
Also we never found out how they got the cabin. I am wondering if when Jack's Dad died if they got the cabin as part of his estate. Just thinking that the picture could have been in the cabin like the Dad had a copy of it

I feel for Deja. Deja’s mom didn’t abandon her, she is giving her the better life she has failed to provide. Deja loved her mom and isn’t just going to feel happy and grateful to be in a new home. While she is living the better life and having appetizers at a wedding she knows her mother is probably sleeping in a near or worse. How can she possibly be happy knowing her mom is in a bad situation? How could Randall and Beth just expect her to be happy when she is constantly worrying about her mom? When the mom mentions Deja’s father she probably freaks because of her own deadbeat dad that may never have been around. If he was remotely in the picture perhaps her mom could have made the bills to keep them together. To her, the Pearsons have just had it so damn easy. While Randal and Beth are relieved Deja is safe they don’t seem to acknowledge the tremendous loss and anxiety Deja must be feeling. I would be smashing up some fancy car myself.
