Texting or talking on the phone?
I never liked talking on the phone. I have text convos all day long with my friends. My mom doesn’t know how to text (nor does she want to learn) and she really only checks her email once a day, so it’s easier to call her. My MIL loves to send lengthy emails with tons of questions, so we’re usually going back and forth several times. Sometimes she calls but I let DD talk to her. I don’t like talking to her on the phone because she talks over me.

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
Strongly prefer texting to talking. I am on the phone for a lot of my work responsibilities; I hate using it after work.
Also at this point, most of my friends have kids. It’s just easier to text them, so they can get back to me when it’s convenient.

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
I don't talk on the phone. I'm strictly a texter. Recently I missed a call from my best friend and I texted her back asking if she has pocket dialed me by accident because she also does not call people. She actually had something important to tell me so she called on purpose.

Hate talking on the phone. Hate it. Much prefer texting. I even prefer emailing at work as opposed to talking on the phone.
This
Ditto! My best friend always says she gets nervous if she sees my name on her caller ID because she knows it must be something serious! LOL

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
I dislike the entire concept of texting. You cannot hear tone of voice, cannot determine if someone is serious or joking in the absence of an emoji, and cannot have any in depth interaction in 167 characters. To ask a quick question, to confirm a time, place or whatnot, it's great.
To actually "talk" to someone it completely sucks, and we are raising a generation of people who do not know how to engage in human interaction as a result.

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
It depends. I text 99% of the time. I can text a mile a minute without even looking at my phone, but sometimes I do like to talk on the phone--mostly with my best friend that moved to CA that I don't get to see often anymore. Everyone else, text!

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
I do both. If it is quick, and I just need and answer to one thing I will text, but if I want to talk, or it is involved, I will either email or call.

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
It depends. If I need a quick answer or want to relay a short message, I'll always prefer texts. If a friend is trying to hsve a long gossip filled convo, she better call me because in these cases, i find texting a waste of time.

Re: Texting or talking on the phone?
Hate hate hate talking on the phone. I just don’t have the time to have a long drawn out phone conversation. With texting I can respond at my pace not worrying about having to yell at my ds to finish eating or do his homework or whatever. I’ve even taught my 74 year old mom to text lol though she will still call but it’s usually a 2 min talk. My friend will call me because she hates texting but it’s always when it’s convenient for her like on her drive to or from work. I hate it. Meanwhile I’m either at work or on the train or home doing something. Just text me!! Or the best is when she leaves me a voicemail. “Hi it’s me...call me”.

Texting or talking on the phone?
I text or FaceTime. With my parents I tend to Facetime but for everyone else, I usually stare in abject horror when my phone rings because I can't believe someone is calling me and not texting like a normal person.

YES. 100% agree
i agree, however texting works better when you need to respond quickly and privately

I also agree with this. I find texting so impersonal.

Texting or talking on the phone?
I text friends -- we have individual and group chats. We could text all day throughout the day or a couple times a week. Just depends on what is going on. I prefer it because i have kids who for whatever reason LOVE to raise holy hell every single time I talk on the phone. It is like they sense they can get away with something because im not giving them my full attention. Family i text and call depending on the situation. I generally hate phone calls...especially those with people you dont really know. At work I need to use the phone and I feel myself "putting on a show" almost every time im on the phone. I can talk to the same person in person and be myself. And like Nell i am thrilled that we can now RSVP through text or email.

Speaking of which I remember the days before texting whenever I had to RSVP to a party invite I would dread it!! I would purposely try to call when I thought nobody would be home so I could just leave a message on the machine. I was so happy when people started including email addresses and cell #'s on invites for RSVPing.
Yes, I have issues!
Same here... You are def not alone!!! My social anxiety ranks high... but I will add, I like texting and emails bc I have everything in writing should I need to refer back to the convo.
