PurAmino any tricks on getting it cheaper
Asking for my boss.
Her granddaughter is a preemie by just a little but is suffering from an allergy. She's been through lots of formulas.
Any suggestions on discounts?
She's 3m
And if you used it did the baby get constipated? If so, how did you treat it?

She can try requesting samples.
Will insurance not cover it? I thought it was mandatory if it's the only source of nutrition - so for infants. Ours wasn't free, but it was one copay a case.
There are also several formula buy/sell groups for specialty formula,

Re: PurAmino any tricks on getting it cheaper
definitely contact the insurance company
We got 80% of the cost of formula covered for ds with a doctors note. I had to buy it and submit receipts which was actually a pain bc Aetna kept claiming they never got the faxes...but in the end I got all of my reimbursement checks and it was worth it
I know some insurance will set you up with formula shipping from their online pharmacy and you pay the copay.

I agree with PP -- ask the doctor who prescribed it to tell you where to call. There are agencies who ship these types of formulas that will work with your insurance carrier for you. I know Aetna covers... Cigna would not. Depends on your carrier.

So insurance won't pick it up. They told her it can only be covered if it's being fed to her through a tube (sorry I am misquoting this but basically not covered if fed through a bottle).

Has she appealed that? With diagnosis to back it up from more than one doctor.
It's an insane process, we got denied every 6 months and had to fight it.

check local laws in NY they changed it that it has to be covered even if its not fed through a tube. I had to go back and forth a lot for it to finally be covered. I had to pay my copay I think per case or per can. Whatever it was it was hell of a lot cheaper

Our formula was covered and not fed through a tube. He was on a high calorie formula because he was a preemie. They covered up until he was 18 months. But, I did not have to go through the pharmacy part of the insurance carrier. I had to go through the medical part. And neither section knows what the other is responsible for. It took a lot of phone calls and back and forth, but eventually with just a prescription, I was able to get it all covered and pick up directly at CVS.

Re: PurAmino any tricks on getting it cheaper
Insurance covered my dds Neocate for 18 months completely, but maybe contacting the manufacturer would help...sometimes they have programs to help families. I know that I had to go through my insurance's specialty pharmacy, not the regular pharmacy and it wasn't easy to figure that out and no one knew the rules until I found the right people.
