Paris questions
If you've visited the Eiffel Tower, which level did you go up to? We're debating between the 2nd floor and the summit. Also, if you've visited Versailles, did you take the train there, or a tour? Any restaurant suggestions for Paris? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Re: Paris questions
We are going to Paris in a few weeks. We have tickets to go up to the summit of the Eiffel Tower. For Versailles, we are taking the train but have pre-purchased our tickets to the palace.

Paris questions
I’ve been to the summit at the Eiffel Tower and we took the train to Versailles. We walked around on our own.

Re: Paris questions
We went to the second floor of the Tower.
And we took a small van tour to Versailles recommended by our hotel. It also went to Monet's gardens at Giverney, which I highly recommend you visit!

Re: Paris questions
We didnt go up at all. Someone recommended (and it actually made sense) that the prettiest thing in the Paris skyline is the Eiffel Tower... and you miss that by being on it. We went up the Arc de Triomphe instead which was less of a wait and the view was BEAUTIFUL!

Re: Paris questions
The 1st level is actually my favorite. So overlooked, you can get close up at the ironwork details.
Versailles you can do on your own, just hop on a train. Don’t miss le petit Trianon, Marie antionettes fantasy pastureland. It’s my favorite part of the Versailles complex!

Paris questions
We did the skip the line to the top but the tour takes you to the second floor and from there you can decide if you want to keep going or not. Even with the skip th Elaine, it was a bit of a wait. I enjoyed the 2nd level better actually.

Re: Paris questions
I went all the way up. I second the Arc de Triomphe suggestion.
I took a train to Versaille. The first Sunday of every month is free entrance.
For restaurants I really liked Brasserie Thoumieux (went twice I liked it so much!), Chez Michel, and Bistrot Paul Bert.
Rue Clare is a cool little street to check out for crepes and other food.

Re: Paris questions
Thanks to everyone for the replies. Decided on the train to Versailles, that looks pretty easy to do. We're going the beginning of July, getting excited as it's our first visit!

No worries. I think I spelled Rue Clare wrong. I believe it is Rue Cler. They also have nice cheese shops. One cheese you must try is Epoisses. It’s so yummy, but it’s from the Burgundy region.
If you are stuck on finding a restaurant, I suggest trying Chowhound. Just google Chowhound Paris restaurants. You will get a plethora of restaurants to try.

i did the same!
As for Versailles, I took the train and took no less than 3 tours. Absolutely worthwhile.

Re: Paris questions
We actually just got home a few days ago. We did the summit of the Eiffel Tower. We walked around all the levels though.
We took the train to Versailles. It was super easy to do. Just remember to hold onto your train tickets, you will need to swipe them on the way out of the train station.
We loved L'ardoise L'ardoise
